The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program that complements and enhances existing efforts in the group to study the interaction of radiation with matter. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: x-ray spectroscopy and scattering using synchrotron radiation and free-electron lasers, optical ultrafast techniques including high harmonic generation, nonlinear spectroscopies and applying those techniques to study ultrafast dynamics in the gas and solution phase. A postdoctoral researcher position is available in the Valsson Research Group (www.valsson.info), headed by Dr. Omar Valsson, in the Department of Chemistry at the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton, Texas.
This position will focus on the development and applications of advanced atomistic simulation methods, including enhanced sampling methods and machine learning approaches, to investigate physical processes in chemical, biological, and material systems; for example, protein-protein interactions, protein degradation, and polymorphic transformations in molecular crystals.

Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD. in chemistry, or chemical engineering, or physics, or biology, or material science, or other closely related areas.
- Experience with running and analyzing classical atomistic molecular simulations (e.g., Gromacs, OpenMM, Amber, etc.)
- Experience with enhanced sampling methods (e.g., metadynamics) using codes such as PLUMED or SSAGES.
- Experience with the development of advanced atomistic simulation methods.
- Experience with programming (ideally Python and C++)
- Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g, PyTorch, LibTorch, Tensorflow) is not required but would be beneficial.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The Central Laser Facility is seeking a facility operations scientist with a background in ultrafast laser spectroscopy to join the ULTRA facility, in Oxfordshire, UK. ULTRA specialises in the provision of world-class high repetition-rate ultrafast vibrational spectroscopic techniques for multidisciplinary UK and international research in the physical and life sciences.
The ULTRA facility has recently been awarded major funding from the UKRI Infrastructure fund, to provide the next generation of ultrafast laser spectroscopy facilities, HiLUX.
Examples of our ultrafast spectroscopy systems include multi-dimensional spectroscopies (2D IR and 2D visible), advanced Raman spectroscopies (ultrafast stimulated Raman and Kerr-gated Raman), vibrational sum-frequency generation spectroscopy and broadband transient spectroscopies across femtosecond to second timescales.

Topic: Computational molecular design of universal self-assembler in Prague, Czech Republic
Details:
The Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences is looking for a PhD student to participate in a 4-year project on “Computer Aided Design of Templated Assembling, Replication and Synthesis on Ionic Substrates“ under the supervision of Dr. Prokop Hapala (https://www.fzu.cz/en/people/ing-prokop-hapala-phd). The project aims to computationally develop an universal molecular architecture inspired by DNA-origami for assembling molecular components into larger functional systems (e.g. computer circuits) on ionic substrates. A key part of the project is the development of a novel QM/MM simulation package integrating DFT/DFTB methods with classical force fields to streamline molecular design in anhydrous environment. The ideal candidate profile can be of two kinds:
Profile 1 – Development of simulation software
• Knowledge or interest in scientific computations and high performance calculations
• Knowledge or interest of modern programming practices and organization of software projects
• Programming experience e.g. in Python (numpy), C/C++, Fortran, OpenCL or CUDA
Profile 2 – Molecular simulations using classical force-fields
• Perform modeling of non-covalent interactions between molecules on ionic substrates
• Participate in the design of molecular structure to optimize deterministic self-assembling
• Data analysis of computational results and collaboration with AFM/STM experiments
Common requirements
• MSc in Physics, Chemistry or Computer Science
• Good spoken and written English
• Initiative, creativity and ability to solve problems independently

A Postdoctoral Fellowship appointment at ITAMP (Cambridge, MA) is made each year to support a promising scientist who has recently received a Ph.D. degree to carry out research in all areas of theoretical atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) Physics. The Fellowship is for two years with possible renewal for a third year. The successful applicant must demonstrate independence to pursue research in topical areas of interest in AMO physics, including ultracold atomic and molecular few- and many-body physics, quantum gases, quantum and non-linear optics, atoms and molecules in strong fields, atomic and molecular astrophysics, quantum information science and simulations, and laboratory cosmology. Applicants should state clearly why they believe that their professional goals would be furthered through the Fellowship. Applicants are expected to demonstrate capability for original research and for first-author refereed publications in major physics journals. User support at the SCS instrument and collaboration with the hRIXS community
Requirements:
PhD degree in chemistry, physics or equivalent
scientific interest in a broad portfolio of research (from programs in energy research, catalysis up to bio-relevant research)
motivation for developing a research program on time-resolved X-ray spectroscopy including liquid-jet samples and surfaces
Experience in (time-resolved) soft X-ray spectroscopies and in ultrafast optical spectroscopy / laser systems
