With profound grief and deep respect, the Law Dpt. (IIIJS), UEM Kolkata mourn for the passing of Dr. Mani Kumar Chetri at the remarkable age of 106.
A distinguished recipient of the Padma Shri, Dr. Chetri dedicated his life to the service of humanity through medicine. As a renowned cardiologist and former Director of West Bengal State Health Services, he played a pivotal role in shaping public healthcare in the state. His leadership at IPGMER and SSKM Hospital, Kolkata, stands as a testament to his vision, commitment, and excellence.
His legacy will continue to inspire generations of medical professionals and students. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched.
May his noble soul rest in peace🙏🏻

On 31st March 2026, the Department of Law, UEM, Kolkata, visited the Calcutta High Court, gaining invaluable exposure to real-time courtroom proceedings. The visit bridged theory with practice, inspiring future legal professionals to uphold justice, ethics, and the rule of law with greater commitment. ⚖️
The Department of Law (IIIJS), UEM Kolkata, proudly presents De Novo Advocare 3.0, the Third Inter-Semester Moot Court Competition, held on 28th February, 6th and 7th March.
A total of 21 teams from across all semesters participated, competing against each other in a crisp and highly competitive environment where every team put forth their best, demonstrating strong analytical skills, court craft, and persuasive advocacy. ⚖️
The event stood as a true celebration of legal brilliance, resilience, and the spirit of advocacy.
After intense rounds of mooting, we proudly congratulate the Winners, Team DN315, our fifth-year students, whose outstanding performance and clarity of thought set them apart. 🏆
De Novo Advocare 3.0 was not just a competition, but a testament to excellence in advocacy and the pursuit of legal mastery. We continue to encourage and inspire all students to actively engage in mooting and refine their advocacy skills, fostering the next generation of legal professionals.
