Dear colleagues,
This is to put forward a few updates and two requests.
Dear CU Linguists,
Volume 26 of the Bulletin of the Department of Linguistics is now published online. This special volume is an homage to Professor Sukumar Sen on his 125th birth Anniversary, edited by Professor Abhijit Majumdar. The call for papers for the next volume is also published already https://www.caluniv.ac.in/academic/Linguistics/CFP.pdf ). However, the editorial board has decided to accept papers throughout the year at the specified email addresses for subsequent volumes.
Our website has been recently updated and we have managed to upload some of the old bulletins published by our department.
Those interested may visit our webpage (https://www.caluniv.ac.in/academic/Linguistics.html )to check all the Bulletins. The oldest bulletin (https://www.caluniv.ac.in/academic/Linguistics/DJ-1959.pdf ) we could find was published in 1959, edited by Professor Sukumar Sen.
We also came to know that some webpages have listed our old Bulletins for sale. Needless to say, all the Bulletins in the webpage of our department are available for free. In this regard, we have a request. If you come across a soft copy of any of our old Bulletins (which are not already available in our webpage), would you kindly share with us, so that we can upload them on our webpage to make it available for free to all interested?
Our second request is directed to the former students of our department.
We have recently had the opportunity to meet several of our former students doing wonderful work in diverse fields. We have long felt the need to create a database of former students of this more than a century-old department. This is often needed for various official requirements. But more importantly, this may help us create a network and a community. Hence, requesting all former students of the department to fill out this form (https://forms.gle/C8rL9BgpdihxGuj7A ) and also share it with other alumni that you're in touch with. We also request you to do this as soon as possible; it will take less than five minutes of your time. We would like to have a reasonably robust database by 29th October.
The lasted bulletin of the Department, an homage to Professor Sukumar Sen on his 125th birth anniversary, is now available at our department webpage. You can access the bulletin in the link below
