Instilling the habit of innovative, creative and independent thinking approach towards problem solving in achieving real solutions to them
India is home to 1/6th of the world’s population. There are 4 researchers per 10,000 labour force in India and the Patent published per million population is only 17 against 4451 and 3716 in South Korea and Japan respectively. The figures are dismally low and several times the Indian Prime Ministers and Presidents have expressed their frustration about the fact that Indian Research is not coming o
f age in terms of publications, Intellectual Property Rights (patent, copyrights etc.) and number of researchers. But we need to look at the problem from the grass root level to see from where it is actually brewing up. School and college education system is responsible for creating the entire value chain of low output. Some day government might come up with requisite R&D investment at par with international peers but who will take care of the R&D development in real terms if the minds are not ready with knowledge, insight and creativity. There are so many schools at present which are trying to teach students differently, leaving behind the conventional rote system of education (a system where mugging up is encouraged). That is good enough to start with. But our objective is to create the minds of future researchers who can produce output at par with their global peers and thereby put India in the worldwide research map. This calls for a better insight from the early school days. At Brainstormer classes this is exactly our motto! Realizing the ever-existent gap between the curiosity-driven research (the ideal case) and project mode of research (the actual case) in Indian colleges and universities and these shamefully pathetic figures in Indian research the ‘Brainstormer classes’ was philosophized by a scientist with international exposure. These classes will create substantial insight in the mind of students from the school level itself without hampering their curriculum. It will teach innovative ways of thinking to kids and youngsters. Mission: Instilling the habit of innovative, creative and independent thinking approach towards problem solving in achieving real solutions to them. Vision: Convert today’s kid into tomorrow’s independent thinker, researcher and scientist.
