भारतात, आपण दोन समांतर शिक्षण प्रणाली उभारल्या आहेत:
मुख्य प्रवाहातील शाळा — ज्या एका विशिष्ट पद्धतीने, एका विशिष्ट गतीने शिकणाऱ्या मुलांसाठी बनवल्या आहेत.
विशेष शिक्षण केंद्रे — जी लक्षणीय मदतीची गरज असलेल्या मुलांसाठी तयार केली आहेत.
आणि या दोन्हींच्या मध्ये? एक मोठी, अदृश्य दरी.
इथेच हजारो बौद्धिकदृष्ट्या सक्षम, न्यूरोडायव्हर्स मुले नाहीशी होतात.
एडीएचडी (ADHD), ऑटिझम स्पेक्ट्रमची लक्षणे, डिस्लेक्सिया, सह-विकासात्मक फरकांसह असलेली प्रतिभा, संवेदी प्रक्रिया आव्हाने असलेली मुले — अशी मुले ज्यांची बुद्धी असामान्य असते, पण ज्यांच्या शिकण्याच्या पद्धती ठरलेल्या साच्यात बसत नाहीत.
विशेष शाळांमध्ये पात्र ठरण्यासाठी बौद्धिक मूल्यांकनात त्यांचे गुण खूप जास्त असतात.
मुख्य प्रवाहातील वर्गांमध्ये टिकून राहण्यासाठी अनुरूपतेच्या बाबतीत त्यांचे गुण खूप वेगळे असतात.

१३ वर्षांत माझ्या प्रैक्टिस मधे मी एक गोष्ट शिकले —

ऑटिझम असलेल्या मुलाला “बरं” करायचं नसतं.
त्याला समजून घ्यायचं असतं.

जेव्हा एखादा पालक माझ्याकडे येतो, डोळ्यांत प्रश्न घेऊन —
“डॉक्टर, माझं मूल ठीक होईल का?” —
माझं उत्तर असतं:

“तुमचं मूल आधीच ठीक आहे.
फक्त आपल्याला त्याची भाषा शिकायची आहे.”

लवकर निदान, योग्य थेरपी, आणि प्रेमळ कुटुंब —
हे तीन मिळाले की चमत्कार घडतात.
मी रोज ते पाहते. 💙
