Dr. Stephen Morey is a renowned linguist in NE India for his tremendous work on Tai, Singpho, Thangsha languages. He has more than 20 years field work experience, language documentation and experiences of describing them. He is presently teaching at La Trobe University Australia. The North East Indian Linguistics Society (NEILS) was founded by Dr. Stephen Morey, Prof. Jyoti Prakash Tamuli and Dr. Mark Post in 2005. In this interview he has shared his research experiences in NE India and his insights on languages of NE India.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXVhUlgfnhI&t=42s The Hon’ble Minister of Education, Govt. of Assam, Dr. Ranoj Pegu visited Central Institute of Technology Kokrajhar today (3rd July 2021) where he attended an interaction session on "Present Education System and Employability" with the members of National Institute of Bodology, UN Brahma Trust and CIT fraternity. He was accompanied by Mr. Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Hon’ble Minister of Handloom & Textile, WPT-BC (BTC), Soil Conservation, Govt. of Assam and Mr. Pramod Boro,Hon’ble Chief Executive Member, BTR.
The meeting was attended by principals of several colleges, teachers, professionals, senior members, NGO workers and CIT fraternity. The participants shared their views and asked questions to the Education Minister on different issues relating to education – primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Some of the important issues raised were –
- Declining enrollment in govt. schools,
- High dropout rate in Bodo medium schools,
- Indifferent attitude of certain intellectuals and parents towards MT education,
- Provincialization of schools and colleges
- Creating job opportunities
Hon'ble Minister focused on community ownership of Mother Tongue schools and the need for social responsibility of academicians. Higher institutions should be the hub of faculty/student exchange, collaboration, gateway to the universe for students and faculty.
