Celebrating a Journey of Dedication and Growth!
We are proud to celebrate Omkar Vijay Kumbhar of Grade 12, who represented the Goa Hockey Team at the 16th Junior National Hockey Championship 2026, held in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, from 28 July to 8 August.
Omkar’s journey from Oman to KALS has been one of courage, resilience and determination. The unwavering support, trust and encouragement of his parents, despite being miles away, have played a significant role in shaping his journey and enabling him to pursue his dreams with confidence.
At KALS, he has found the opportunity to pursue his passion for competitive hockey at Ashwini’s Sports Foundation (ASF) while continuing to grow academically. His commitment to learning, improving and contributing to his team reflects the true spirit of a student-athlete.
Coach Chethan played a vital role in Omkar’s journey by giving him the opportunity to attend a 15-day training camp for the Goa team. True to his potential and commitment, Omkar earned his place in the playing eleven and went on to represent Goa at the Nationals.
This achievement is a testament to Omkar’s hard work, resilience and determination, as well as Coach Chethan’s belief in his abilities.
Omkar played three matches against Rajasthan, Mizoram and Assam. Reflecting on his experience, Omkar shared that the championship was a valuable learning opportunity. Playing alongside experienced players and learning from international coaches helped him develop new skills and techniques. The experience has further motivated him to aim higher, support his teammates and continue working towards greater heights.
