Reimagining the heart of the home through tropical modernism. At the Vinu Residence in Kolenchery, this kitchen trades heavy walls for airy heights, utilizing dual levels of glazing to capture shifting daylight. The entire volume remains tethered to nature, opening effortlessly onto a sun-drenched, open-to-sky brick courtyard.

Tactile architecture frames slow living at the Vinu Residence, Kolenchery.

This bedroom layout celebrates raw material honesty, pairing the cool, muted tones of plaster and concrete walls with the warmth of a curved, exposed brick courtyard. The massive glass threshold blurs the line between the interior envelope and the central courtyard tree, creating a light-filled, private oasis that changes beautifully with the monsoon seasons.

Tactile minimalism meets tropical serenity at the Vinu Residence, Kolenchery.

This volume beautifully balances the raw, industrial texture of concrete-finish walls with the softness of natural light. By integrating an internal brick courtyard directly into the layout, the boundary between the architecture and the landscape disappears entirely—creating a private, light-filled retreat designed for slow living.

Designed as a sanctuary of warmth and quiet luxury, the bedroom draws its character from a restrained palette of natural materials and carefully orchestrated light. A vaulted terracotta ceiling lends volume and texture, while the courtyard-facing window seat extends the room into a private green retreat. Rich timber detailing, earthy finishes, and soft natural light create a space that feels intimate, grounded, and deeply connected to its tropical setting.

At Vinu Residence, the library unfolds beneath a dramatic pitched ceiling, where natural light filters through high-level openings and courtyard-facing glazing. Layered textures, handcrafted timber elements, and a restrained palette create a warm, contemplative setting that encourages both focus and retreat, while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.

A dining space shaped by light, texture, and proportion. Framed by lush courtyards and softened by layered natural materials, the room balances contemporary restraint with tropical warmth. Exposed concrete ceilings, earthy lime-washed surfaces, handcrafted furnishings, and generous openings create a seamless dialogue between architecture and landscape—allowing daylight, greenery, and everyday living to become part of the design narrative.
