Bhoomi Learning Community Bhoomi is a learning environment that supports the complete development of the child. This is done through free play and self-directed learning.

At Bhoomi Kindergarten, we create a timeless space for children to do their sacred work. Our alternate education method focuses on the following approaches to create a slow paced environment in the midst of our high speed world. We nurture the innate imagination, innocence, and will in each child by focusing on:

Creative play – Emphasis on freeplay to help children develop healthy social interact

Daily rhythm – Circle time, story telling, cooking & gardening and more
Experiential learning – learning by doing through hands-on activities
Creative arts – Natural art materials for each activity

Maker Quest 2026
A Pop-Up Makerspace Experience at Bhoomi for Homeschoolers !

Hosted by Bhoomi Learning Community and facilitated by FreeToLearn: Pop-Up Makerspace, this 4-week self-directed engineering program invites children (8+) to turn their curiosity into real-world inventions.

📅 Dates: *14th July – 5th August 2026*

🕥 Tuesdays & Wednesdays | 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM

📍 Venue: Bhoomi Learning Community, Eroor, Kochi

👧👦 Age: 8+ years

👥 Maximum participants: 10 children

💰 Cost: ₹3000–₹3500 per child (10% sibling discount)

Children will explore, design, tinker, and build using materials like motors, sensors, and copper tape. There are no step-by-step instructions or identical projects—every child follows their own ideas, learns through experimentation, and develops creativity, resilience, and a true maker mindset.

This program is especially welcoming to homeschoolers, self-directed learners, to enjoy exploring, making, and learning by doing.

Join us for an immersive introduction to the world of natural dyes, colours, and sustainable textile practices.

📅 Thursday, June 11
🕚 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
📍 Bhoomi Learning Community, Eroor, Ernakulam
💰 Contribution: ₹500 per attendee

Facilitated by Namrata Bhutoria, Co-founder of ColorAshram Foundation, Mysore, a natural dye training studio and academy working at the intersection of ecology, art, sustainability, and education.

🌼 During the session, we will explore:
• What, why, and how of natural dyeing
• Making dyes from fruits, flowers, and vegetables
• The role of mineral mordants
• The chemistry behind mordants and shade shifters

Please bring:
• A small piece of cotton fabric, handkerchief, bandanna, or napkin
• Please wash the fabric thoroughly before bringing it

From now until the session, please start collecting:
• Pomegranate peels (sun-dried if possible)
• Marigold flowers
• Onion skins (dry papery outer layers only)

A hands-on session for children, youth, adults, artists, makers, educators, and anyone curious about colour, nature, and sustainable practices.
