Chennai: The entrance examination for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will go completely online from 2018 to make logistics and evaluations easier, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) decided on Sunday.

The JAB, which is the policy-making body on IIT admissions, took the decision at a meeting in Chennai.

In the online mode, students will take up the examination at designated centres where they need to answer the questions on a computer instead of using pen and paper.

At present optical mark reading (OMR) sheets are used which need to be filled using pen or pencils and are evaluated by machines.

In a statement, Director, IIT-Madras, and Chairman JAB 2017, Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi said, "It has been decided that the JEE (Advanced) will be conducted in online mode from 2018 onwards. Further information regarding the examination will be provided by the JAB in due course."

The Ministry of Human Resource Development had earlier introduced the option of taking the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains online.

The JEE-Mains is the entrance examination for admission to engineering courses offered across the country and a qualifying exam for JEE-Advanced which is required for admission to the IITs and NITs.

"In order to make logistics and evaluations easier it was decided today that the JEE-Advanced should be made online," a JAB member said.

"The concept was being discussed for many years, but it was necessary to have adequate infrastructure to conduct the exam online," the member added.

More than 13 lakh students took the JEE-Mains this year, with less than 10 per cent of them going online. Around 2.2 lakh students were eligible to write the JEE (Advanced

Parenting
A child's first school is home and first teachers are his parents. They are learning preliminary education as to culture and behavior from home. With that they are going to school and there they are trying yo exhibit what they learned and earned from home. The behavior if child is influenced by the other family members residing along and maid servants and others who have close interaction with that house. So all should be careful in words and deeds at home which may be question able by a child later The integrity and credibility of family members, maid servants ,teachers ,friends influence the behavioural graph of children.I said graph because we can represent it like a graph on X and Y axis. Let the children grow along with us So that they are part of all issues at home and analysing it in their on way.Give space for them to express their opinions.Let them know the society through people friends neighbours and medias .Do not restrict their freedom of interaction so that they can develop their own views about society .We can correct them and vice versa.Accept them.Let them handle money so that they will loose over importance of money but unknowingly watching the expenses. You are the best example of them for attitude towards elders and ,society and they will try to modulate it.
Let them communicate freely with us so that they won't hide any thing from us.
Contact them as many times possible when away from home for studies so they can't break the relations. They feel that they. are being loved and cared
Some behaviour may irritate us but settle it amicably rather than shouting at them.
Our negative attitudes and behavior to children will develop a rebel character in them and later it may be used against us.
Contrary to the concept respect children to the level they deserve but love them unconditionally with out barriers.
Let them.understand value of good education and need for better education and their commitment to family society and our country.
I think these perspectives inferred and inculcated in my children ,to this point of time proved right to be with us ,our family and our society.
