What are our students up to during the lockdown time ?

Edhnel Liza Lebin has turned into a cute little chef and is becoming a social media sensation with her recipe of a simple and yummy biscuit cake.

Note - You can microwave at 900w for 3 to 5 mins to get perfectly baked cake.

Playdoh is easy to make at home with just 4 ingredients - maida, salt, oil and water. Add different food colours to get coloured dough. Involve your kids in measuring ingredients, mixing and kneading.

If food colour is not available you can use watercolor too.

You can keep the playdoh wrapped/covered in fridge after playing and reuse it for one or two weeks. If it becomes dry, add a bit of water and knead again.

Water play is an enjoyable activity for kids. A bucket of water and few bowls can keep them engaged for a long time. Adding some soap to make foam will make it more fun.

You can also do some experiments like sinking and floating objects or make a paper boat etc.

Here is a super simple self blooming flower to add to your list of water activities.

Learn to make a simpke flower that blooms when put in water. This can be made with any paper but thin ones like newspapers work best and kids will love them....

Microgreens is a trending topic and it is so easy that even kids can grow it. Only minimal resources are needed to grow it and in a few days we can get healthy green leaves to use in our daily recipes.

Here is a video that tells you how to grow microgreens. Involve your kids in the process and hopefully they will be interested in consuming the healthy greens that they harvested.

These green leaves can be used in soups, salads, stir fries, omelettes etc.

Montessori method uses Phonics to teach language. In phonics, the sound of alphabets is used rather than the name of the alphabet.

Here is a video that gives you an idea of the phonics sounds of alphabets and how simple cvc (consonant vowel consonant) words are formed.

It is important that young kids in Montessori environment are introduced to the phonics sound (and not the alphabet name). It creates unnecessary confusion if the alphabets are introduced using alphabet name. They will learn the alphabet name at a later stage.

With the lockdown getting extended, most of the parents are running short of ideas to keep their kids engaged and entertained.

We are trying to help you with some ideas for making the lockdown a bit more interesting.
