Dear ICAI ,

Myself ‘common-sense’ , I am representing the large number of CA students who registered May 2020 Examination. Unfortunately, during this exam preparation time, I've been reading news papers everyday and using the analytics skills you taught me during the 3 years of articleship period to analyse the Covid numbers and trends, just to convince myself that exams are indeed going to happen on July 29th. As of now around 4 states have declared lockdown till July 31st and number of Covid positive cases are increasing day by day.

You are saying you will not get approval from MHA and other states except Kerala. At the same time, you are saying you will “conduct exam even if one student is ready to write exam” and today you have extended the opt out scheme till July 7th (from June 30th, which was from June 20th).

I'm from Kerala, & the situation here is much better compared to other states in the country. I know my state government will give all support if ICAI is conducting exams on July 29th, but still how can it be a fair playing field for all when most of the states are suffering. Now a days I am simply sitting in front of the books with a tensed, frustrated & distracted mind. Frustrated because, ICAI, which should act responsibly by taking care of their students, comes up with a new notification everyday for which even they themselves don't have any idea about. We are getting so many mails every day from BOS regarding different webinars and classes. Will you be able to provide some mental relief instead of these so-called webinars and classes? I am tired, I am depressed, I am exhausted.

If I think from your side, I know you are also facing a tough time. You have to take care of everyone's interests. But if you are able to conduct this exam on July 29th, then many will regret for sure, coz they will have to jeopardize their physical as well as mental health at the peak of a pandemic just to give in for someone's ego clashes. I am writing this letter out of frustration; I know you will not consider ‘common sense’ (myself) and my emotions.

I have one request, if you are able to convince myself (‘common sense’)with one final exam date, please give me at least 45 days time, and a level playing field for all. Otherwise please cancel the exams.

You are the only person I can trust. I believe in you.
