Day 1๏ธโฃ : Fragrance of Soil
I have always wondered how Soil smells like.
In my home state of Kerala we have had variations of laterite and alluvial soils.
Apart form the geography lessons, my grandfather had a very simplistic answer.
He went outside scooped a palmful of earth in his hand and filled my two little hands.
Yes, I don't remember the year but I was very small and rode a dog like a horse ๐
When grandfather filled my hand with soil. I was instantly struck by the cold comfort. It was so cuddly like my mother's hands.
As I felt through the soil I had the urge to bring it up to my nose and smell. I was able to experience a damp coldness. It was not the smell of a wet cloth or a mossy corner.
It was the smell of Life. I have never experienced such a smell inside a petri dish , a lab culture or a gestation tube.
Soil is indeed unique as it forms the very fabric under which we thrive and prosper.
Let us all take a scoop of earth from our nearby land and experience the smell of life.
