​This fundamental Kinematics concept uses the principle of Relative Velocity to determine the direction in which rain appears to be falling to a moving observer (the man).

• ​Crossing in Shortest Time (t_{min}): This occurs when the man swims perpendicular to the river flow (\vec{V}_{MR}). We've got the formula for the minimum time and the resulting 'drift' downstream!
2. Crossing the Shortest Path (Zero Drift): To achieve this, the man must swim at a specific angle upstream to counteract the river's flow. This ensures the resultant velocity (\vec{V}_{MG}) is perpendicular to the bank.
