Kharagpur College Physics Alumni At that time only a few colleges in the whole district of Midnapur (then undivided) had affiliation for teaching in science courses. in addition to B.Sc.

Department of physics of Kharagpur College started its journey in the early years of 50’s of the last century after a few years of the establishment of the college in the year 1949. That was the time when intermediate in science (I.Sc.) course was taught in the college as a course prior to graduation course. Later in the early years of 60’s B.Sc. course was introduced in the college under the affi

liation of the University of Calcutta. The department had grown up at that time with the contribution of some reputed faculty members, though not all of them permanently stayed in the department. The department obtained B.Sc. Pass Course since the year 1960 & the extension in affiliation for teaching Honors courses in B.Sc. pass course since the year 1974 under the University of Calcutta. The College obtained affiliation from Vidyasagar University in the year 1985.

Dear Alumni, Kharagpur College physics alumni association you are requested to condole the sad demise of our respected teacher Madam Prof. Rita Roy who expired on 30th September 2012 in a tragic road accident at Howrah. The condolence meeting will be held on 19th October 2012 at 12:30 PM in the Physics Department of Kharagpur College.
