✨ SAMDeV - Celebrating a Legacy of Science, Mentorship, and the Microscience Family ✨

The SAMDeV 2025 Conference was a truly special occasion for the Microscience Lab, bringing together students, alumni, collaborators, and well-wishers to celebrate the remarkable academic and mentoring journey of Prof. Samit K. Ray.

We were honoured to have Prof. Lorenzo Pavesi, University of Trento, as the Chief Guest, whose presence and address greatly enriched the event.

One of the most memorable moments of SAMDeV was the unveiling of the book “A Trip Down the Memory Lane”, created by Prof. Ray’s students. The book reflects his scientific journey, milestones, and the collective experiences of generations of students who have worked with him over the years.

The event was made even more special as Prof. Ray was felicitated by his first few PhD students, now established leaders in academia and industry - an inspiring reminder of how mentorship shapes generations.

Over the decades, Prof. Ray has built a global Microscience family of more than 60 researchers across academia, industry, and research organisations across the world, connected by shared values of curiosity, rigour and mutual respect. SAMDeV beautifully captured this spirit of togetherness, making it not just a scientific meeting, but a reunion of a thriving academic family.

We thank everyone who contributed to making SAMDeV a meaningful and memorable celebration and hope to meet again in similar spirit at SAMDeV II in the coming years.

🔬 Microscience Lab at IWPSD 2025 🔬

Members of the Microscience Lab actively participated in the prestigious academic IWPSD 2025 conference held at IIT Roorkee, presenting our latest research contributions in diverse areas of condensed matter physics and device science.

🧪 Our researchers Shaona, Deepak, Saranya, Subham and Santu showcased their work on 2D materials, synaptic and neuromorphic devices on perovskites through both oral and poster presentations.

🎤 In addition, Prof. Samit Ray delivered a plenary talk on Advances in Optoelectronic Materials and Devices, sharing valuable perspectives on ongoing research directions and future challenges in Si and 2D materials.

🎤🎤Also, our alumni Prof. Siddheswar Maikap (Chang Gung University, Taiwan), Dr. Gouri Shankar Kar (IMEC, Belgium), Prof. Samaresh Das (IIT Delhi), Dr. Subhendu Sinha Sarkar (SSPL, Delhi) presented invited talks on power devices and ferroelectric memory.

The conference provided an excellent platform for scientific exchange with distinguished scientists and reinforcing our commitment to cutting-edge research and collaboration.

👏 Congratulations to all presenters for representing the lab with excellence!
