The AgFE Department deeply mourns the sudden demise of Professor B. C. Ghosh on 23 November 2025.
Among his many contributions to the department, one that continues to inspire us is the beautiful green landscape he helped shape — the tea and coffee plantations at AgFE and Gopali. His presence lives on in every leaf and every corner of these plantations he nurtured with such dedication.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family.
May his soul rest in peace.🙏🙏🙏

First of its kind on IIT Kharagpur Campus, HydroC2M (Hydrology, Climate and Crop Modelling) group of Agricultural and Food Engineering Department conducted a 5MR (Five Minute Research) competetion among the Research Scholars on 05/11/2025, on the day of ospecious Guru Purniam, to showcase and present the abstract of their research work in 5 minutes. Professor Rajib Maity of Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Renji Remesan of School of Water Resources and Dr. Anuradha Choudhary of Humanities and Social Sciences, grace the event as judges. There are 11 scholars presented their research work connecting, rainfall prediction, reservoir operation, groundwater recharge, flood forecasting, climate change impacts, diffuse agricultural pollution, crop health monitoring, and environmental quality and public health. Special thanks to Professor Rajendra Singh, Profesor Narendra Singh Raghuwnshi, Professor Nirupama Mallick, Professor Chandranath Chatterjee, Professor Ashok Mishra, Dr. Damodhara Rao Mailapalli, Dr. Piyush Kumar Singh, and the Master Students for Joining the event, and make the 5MR a grand success. Special thanks to Professor Singh for initiating 5MR concept and hope to see more events of 5MR seminars conducted soon.
