The NSS Unit of A.S. College of Education, Khanna, under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Pawan Kumar and the supervision of NSS Programme Officer Dr. Vimal Vidushy, observed Sadbhavana Diwas (Sadbhavana Day) on August 20, 2026, following the directives of the Directorate of Youth services, Punjab.
In line with the initiative, student-teachers currently undergoing training in various teaching practice schools organized and participated in dedicated events across their allotted institutes. The NSS volunteers conducted engaging activities focused on promoting communal harmony, national integration, peace and goodwill among school pupils. The observances featured pledge-taking ceremonies, interactive talks, and awareness drives highlighting the importance of unity across diverse cultures and backgrounds.

A.S. College of Education, Khanna celebrated the vibrant festival of Teej with great zeal, enthusiasm, and cultural fervour on the college campus on dated 30th July,2026. The programme was organized to promote Punjabi culture and acquaint students with the rich traditions and heritage of the state. The celebration commenced with a warm welcome to the worthy guests by Dr . Pawan Kumar. Smt. Indu Thamman wife of Naveen Thamman (Vice President) Smt.Kanika wife of Shri Subodh Mittal (Secretary of the college), Smt. Anshu Devgan wife of Jatinder Devgan (Internal Auditor), Smt. Indu Khatri, Smt. Shalu Kalia Member Management, Smt. Ravinder Kaur wife of Ex President Sh. Shaminder Singh all were present as worthy guests of the day. Students dressed in colourful traditional attire participated enthusiastically. The cultural programme featured Giddha, folk dances, boliyan, tappay, and musical performances. A Mehndi Competition was also organized. Fun games or the guests were also organized in which they enjoyed lot. Principal Dr. Pawan Kumar appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty members for organizing the event and encouraged students to preserve Punjab's rich cultural heritage. Ms. Sheetal Gupta declared as Miss Teej, Komalpreet Kaur as first runner up and Neelam as second runner up. Winners were also declared from solo dance and group dance categories.

Under the able leadership and guidance of Principal Dr. Pawan Kumar and supervision of NSS Programme Officer Dr. Vimal Vidushy, and Mrs Harneet Kaur of A.S. College of Education, Khanna, actively participated in the Sub-Divisional Level Independence Day Function held at Dana Mandi, G.T. Road, Khanna on August 15, 2026.
The grand event commenced at 8:58 AM with the ceremonial unfurling of the National Flag by the Chief Guest, Smt. Swati Tiwana (PCS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Khanna), accompanied by S. Gurcharan Singh (Tehsildar, Khanna) and Charanjeet Singh (Executive Officer, Nagar Council, Khanna). Following the Flag Hoisting, parade inspection, and a disciplined March Past, the Chief Guest delivered an inspiring address to the gathering, followed by the honoring of Freedom Fighters.
A major highlight of the day was the vibrant P.T. Show and Cultural Program starting at 9:35 AM, which brought together energetic performances from various educational institutions across the sub-division. The NSS volunteers of A.S. College of Education delivered a powerful and patriotic dance performance to the song "Sabse Aage Honge Hindustani", captivating the audience with their rhythm, enthusiasm, and national pride. In addition to this standout performance, students from various school and college contingents showcased impressive P.T. drills, energetic Giddha, traditional Bhangra, and evocative patriotic group songs depicting India's rich heritage and freedom struggle.
The function concluded with the Prize Distribution Ceremony at 10:10 AM, where participating institutions and volunteers were recognized for their outstanding contributions. Both Teacher In-charges, Dr. Vimal Vidoshi and Mrs. Harneet Kaur, were also honored, along with their team, for their remarkable performance followed by the singing of the National Anthem at 10:30 AM.

The NSS Unit of A.S. College of Education, Khanna celebrated National Librarians’ Day on August 12, 2026, with a special “Har Ghar Tiranga Library Campaign” to honour the invaluable contribution of libraries and librarians towards spreading knowledge and promoting reading habits. The program was organised under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Pawan Kumar and supervision of Dr. Vimal Vidushy ( NSS Program Incharge).
The programme was organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, popularly known as the Father of Library Science in India. A special tribute was paid to Dr. Ranganathan, whose pioneering work laid the foundation for the development of library science and modern library services in the country.
The celebration beautifully combined the message of knowledge, patriotism and community participation through the Har Ghar Tiranga Library Campaign. The initiative highlighted the importance of libraries as centres of learning while encouraging a spirit of national pride among students.
The NSS volunteers and students actively participated in the campaign and expressed their respect for the nation, books, knowledge and the library profession. S. Kamaljit Singh (Library Assistant) also emphasised the role of reading and libraries in developing informed, responsible and socially conscious citizens.
Dr. Pawan Kumar, Principal, A.S. Under the able leadership & guidance of Principal Dr. Pawan Kumar and supervision of NSS Programme Officer Dr. Vimal Vidushy, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of A.S. College of Education, Khanna, organized a series of patriotic, environmental and academic activities for the Independence Day and Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign (August 09, 2026 – August 17, 2026). The multi-day initiative kicked off on Day 1 (10.08.2026) with the launch of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, where volunteers spread awareness about the dignity and proper display of the national flag, motivating community members to hoist the Tiranga at their homes. Continuing the momentum on Day 2 and Day 5 (11.08.2026 &14/8/26), the NSS unit organized a Grand Plantation Drive across the college premises sponsored by Forest Department Khanna In-Charge Ms. Sukhveer Kaur in collaboration with an NGO Har Maidan Fateh headed by S. Kashmir Singh Khalsa with his team members Sh. Mandeep Singh, Sh. Ram Singh, S Jaswinder Singh and S. Gurpreet Singh Khalsa planted saplings and also in surrounding areas to emphasize environmental sustainability alongside national pride. On Day 3 (12.08.2026), the college celebrated National Librarian’s Day by holding a special Har Ghar Tiranga Library Campaign, paying rich tributes to Dr. S.R. NSS Unit of A. S. College of Education, Khanna, celebrated Guru Purnima on dated 27th July, 2026 with great devotion and enthusiasm to honour the invaluable contribution of teachers in shaping the lives of students.The event was conducted under the academic guidance of Dr. Pawan Kumar, Principal of A.S. College of Education and supervised by Dr. Vimal Vidushy, NSS Programme Officer and Mrs. Harneet Kaur Program Incharge. The college had the privilege of welcoming two distinguished retired Principals as guest speakers. In the morning session Principal Dr. Pawan Kumar welcomed Sh. Balwinder Singh Principal PM Shri RSFF govt High school Khanna. He came and delivered a lecture on the topic Skills of teaching- key pedagogical techniques for modern educators. In the afternoon session Principal Dr. Pawan Kumar welcomed Dr. Surjit Singh and Sh. Uma Dutt Sharma. They delivered inspiring lectures highlighting the significance of Guru Purnima and emphasized the vital role of a guru in imparting knowledge, values, discipline, and moral guidance. They encouraged students to respect their teachers, remain committed to learning, and strive for excellence in life. Students actively participated in the celebration by delivering speeches and reciting poems dedicated to the importance of teachers and the guru-disciple tradition. They also showcased their creativity through Greeting Card Making and Poster Making Competitions, expressing their gratitude and respect for their teachers with colourful and meaningful creations. In the end both guests were honoured with a momento by Principal Dr. Pawan Kumar. The Principal of A.S. A.S. College of Education, Khanna organized an inspiring guest lecture on the life, philosophy, and teachings of Swami Vivekananda for the students and faculty members on 24th July,2026. The chief guest of the programme were Sh. Satpal Singla (Chairman, Swami vivekanand college of Nursing) and speaker Sh. Gaurav Bansal (Social worker) and S. Charanjeet Singh ( Social worker). In his address Sh. Gaurav Bansal motivated students to adopt the ideals of self-confidence, discipline, patriotism, and character-building as advocated by the great spiritual leader.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome of the distinguished guest by the Principal Dr. Pawan Kumar. In the keynote address, he also highlighted Swami Vivekananda's vision of empowering youth through education, moral values, and dedicated service to society. The speaker emphasized that Swami Vivekananda believed education is the manifestation of the perfection already present in every individual and encouraged students to develop confidence, courage, and a positive outlook towards life.
The lecture was highly interactive and inspired the students to work hard, uphold ethical values, and contribute positively to society.
On the occasion, the Principal of A.S. College of Education appreciated the valuable insights shared by the guest speaker and encouraged the students to follow the teachings of Swami Vivekananda in their personal and professional lives.

On 20th July 2026, A.S. College of Education, Kalal- Majra Khanna, commenced the 10-Days School Internship workshop and Value Added Course for B.Ed. 3rd Semester students. The workshop began with a Welcome and Orientation Programme conducted by Dr. Pawan Kumar ( Principal) and Dr. Vimal Vidushy, who warmly welcomed the student teachers and explained the objectives and significance of the school internship programme. They emphasized that the internship would help pupil teachers gain practical experience in classroom teaching, classroom management, and professional development.
The next session was conducted by Dr. Alka Sharma, who introduced the school internship programme in detail. She explained the objectives of the internship, the responsibilities of pupil teachers, and the procedures for preparing internship files, lesson plans, observation records, and other essential documents. She also guided the students regarding the tasks they would be expected to perform during the internship.
This was followed by a session on Developing Teaching Competence through Micro Teaching by Mrs. Harneet Kaur. She explained the concept and
importance of micro teaching in enhancing teaching skills through practice and constructive feedback. She highlighted how micro teaching helps develop confidence, communication skills, classroom management, and effective teaching techniques.
The final session before the break was conducted by Dr. Harjeet Kaur on the Skill of Introduction and its Format. She explained that a good introduction is essential for creating students' interest in the lesson, connecting previous knowledge with new concepts, and motivating learners to participate actively. She also discussed different strategies for introducing a lesson effectively.
After the lunch break, a Value Added Course on Traditional Teaching Aids was conducted, followed by subject-wise orientation sessions for different teaching subjects. These sessions helped students understand the effective use of traditional teaching aids and provided guidance related to their respective teaching subjects.
Overall, the first day of the workshop was informative, interactive, and inspiring.
