The Laidlaw Memorial School of St. George's Homes, Ketti was founded in 1914 by the late Rev. John Breeden, to provide a home and education for children of the Protestant European and Anglo-Indian communities. It was generously endowed by late Sir Robert Laidlaw. The institution started its life in Kodaikanal but moved to Ketti, its present home, in 1922. The school stands in a forested area in the heart of one of the most beautiful valleys in South India, at an elevation of 2,082 metres, and its campus covers over 224 acres. This provides ample space for playing fields and sports grounds.

THE GARDNER LEGACY

In 1980, when Laidlaw groaned under the weight of debt, its loyyal staff unpaid for six weary months, its losses surpassing fifty lakhs, Mr. W. R. Gardner was give the unenviable task of being the Principal and Secretary of Laidlaw. He inherited a school in peril.

The entire Managing Board abandoned the sinking ship. Even then He came forth not to lament, but to lead, with the quiet conviction of one who serves a higher cause.

Educator by calling, administrator by duty, he summoned discipline from disarray, confidence from despair, purpose from exhaustion. Relying neither on borrowed funds nor outside succor, he rebuilt through the steady virtues of integrity, scholarly rigor, and steadfast guardianship.

Step by resolute step, he forged deficit into dignity.

Upon his retirement in 2010, he bequeathed not burdens, but blessings. He left a legacy corpus exceeding TEN CRORES, and an institution ennobled in reputation, enrollment, and resolve.

He did not merely serve LAIDLAW, he redeemed it.

Happy Birthday to our dynamic President Georgian Khalid Buhari

Georgian Khalid Buhari stands among those rare leaders whose influence is measured not by proclamation, but by transsformation.

As President of the OGA, his tenure has brought a paradigm shift that restored clarity to vision, integrity to process, and purpose to action.

An educator by conviction and a philanthropist by instinct, he has given freely of his time, wisdom, and resources, always placing the institution above the individual and the future above the present.

May the year ahead grant him strength equal to his vision, health worthy of his service, and the quiet satisfaction of work well done.

Happy Birthday, Mr.President.
