Tribute to Epigraphist, Shri Kodaganallur Krishnan, on his 100th Birth Anniversary.

K.G. Krishnan extensively surveyed and copied inscriptions in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. He not only edited the newly-discovered inscriptions and copper-plates but also re-edited the ones published earlier. As Epigraphist, he edited the Epigraphia Indica, Vol. IVX 1973-74, Pts I-VI (1986 & 1988) and South Indian Inscriptions, Vol. XVII (1964).

K.G. Krishnan was also associated with many academic organizations and delivered lectures at different forums. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of epigraphic studies, the Epigraphical Society of India honoured K.G. Krishnan with Tamrapatra Prasasti at Anantapur Session in 1988 and Tamil Nadu History Congress at Erode Session in 1997.

K.G. Krishnan also authored books and edited Sanskrit inscriptions. Some of the books written by him are 'Studies in South Indian History and Epigraphy', Vol. I (1981), 'Karandai Tamil Sangam Plates of Rajendra Chola I' (MASI 79, 1984), 'Inscriptions of Early Pandyas' (From C. 300 BC to 984 AD) (2002).

Shri Kodaganallur Krishnan will always be remembered for his contributions in the field of Epigraphy.
