School of Public Health

The School has made its mark in “Public Health” through imparting quality education and conducting innovative research. Students hail from all parts of the globe thereby promoting the acumen acquired in terms of quality, efficiency and effectiveness in the global arena. Courses Offered

Masters in Public Health: This is a 2 year program which seeks to provide students with an in-depth understanding of issues in public health principles and practice, and apply this to the specific challenges in delivery, research, planning and management of health services in their national context. This is the flagship program offered by the School of Public Health. Biostatistics and Epidemiology: This is a 2 year, 4 semester program which will equip students with the skills necessary to enable them to work across the range of areas covered by the Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health-related fields and Epidemiology. This program serves to train health professionals to have in-depth knowledge of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and its application to important clinical and public health issues. AFIH: The Associate Fellow in Industrial Health course is a 3 months certificate course for Medical Doctors MBBS and Post Graduate Doctors to create occupational health professional for the industrial world. The AFIH students receive the Diploma from Director General Factory Advice Service and Labor India,(DGFASLI )Ministry of Labor Govt of India. This 3 month Diploma program gives them a wide reach to work as Industry Medical Officers anywhere in India

Preparing Students for Life Beyond Campus

The School of Public Health, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), conducted a one-day Soft Skills Training Session for final-year postgraduate students in collaboration with the Placement Department, SRMIST.

The session focused on skills that students can carry into their professional lives — communication, public speaking, interpersonal skills, confidence, professional etiquette and teamwork.

An opportunity for students to learn, interact and feel better prepared as they take their next step from campus to the workplace.

The School of Public Health, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), contributed to the session “Rhythm Within: Body–Mind Connection Through Movement,” facilitated by the Department of Psychology, University of Madras.

Dr. Kalpana B., Professor, and Mrs. Subha Jayaram, Research Scholar, School of Public Health, SRMIST, served as speakers for the session.

Through movement-based activities and interaction, the session explored the connection between physical movement, mental well-being, emotional awareness and the relationship between the body and mind.

Dr. Neha Rathi, Visiting Professor, Ahmedabad University, shared valuable research perspectives and practical insights into adolescent snacking behaviours and their implications for health. The session encouraged meaningful discussions on food choices, dietary behaviours and the importance of promoting healthier eating practices among adolescents.

The sessions provide students with a continuous platform to understand emerging opportunities at the intersection of Public Health, Healthcare, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health. Through these sessions, students can explore career pathways, industry and research expectations, internships, projects, higher studies and employment opportunities.

Data to Insights: Strengthening Biostatistics Skills with JAMOVI | Day 3

The MSc Biostatistics and Epidemiology students of SRM School of Public Health concluded their three-day workshop, “Data to Insights: Biostatistics and Data Visualization using JAMOVI,” with an engaging and hands-on Day 3.

The day began with an interactive recap of Day 2, followed by sessions on Bivariate Analysis, Chi-square Test and Correlation Analysis. Participants also explored Linear and Logistic Regression under Model Fitting through practical sessions using JAMOVI.

The final day brought together key concepts, practical application and participant reflections, marking a meaningful conclusion to the three-day learning experience.
