Katihar : The Gateway Of Northeast, One of the Main Towns in The Kosi- Seemanchal Region.
The Town of "Banphul" (Balai Chand Mukhopadhyaya) who wrote "Haate Bazare", The town is a well known Railway Hub. The Katihar Division is one of the most Prominent Divisions of Indian Railways in the Northeast.

It got its name from a legend that The Kardhani (Kati- Har) of Maa Sati had fell here, Kati means Waist and Har means Ornament.
