Indian Army will conduct recruitment drives from March 12 to enrol 800 porters for its newly raised Porter Company, officials said.
“A porter recruitment rally for enrolling 600 porters and 200 reserve porters for the Army Porter Company will be held at seven places in Rajouri and Poonch districts,” they said

The recruitment rallies will be organised at seven brigade headquarters across Rajouri and Poonch from March 12 to 19.

The drive will be held at brigade headquarters in Poonch and Rajouri from March 12 to 13, at Balnoi and Naushera from March 14 to 15, at Bhimber Gali from March 16 to 17, and at Mendhar and Manjakote from March 18 to 19.

To be eligible, the applicant must be a citizen of India, medically fit, and aged between 18 and 40 years, according to the advertisement.

With Cabinet report on reservation now lying with the Union Home Ministry, a seven percent cut in Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota to raise Open Merit jobs is reportedly being studied and examined minutely by the Centre as most of the State/UT Governments have implemented this provision with same percentage

However, slashing reservation for RBA category from 10 percent to seven percent will not be a problem, the sources said, but added that this category also needs review as some areas declared backward long ago may have developed over the period of time, the sources said.

As per the CSC recommendations, the EWS quota came down to 3 per cent and RBA to 7 percent.
Reservations including EWS had gone up to 70 per cent in J&K leaving only 30 per cent jobs and seats for Open Merit candidates resulting into strong resentment among them. Sources said the Open Merit jobs and seats will be minimum 40 percent in direct Open Merit quota and 50 percent in vertical reservation quota if the CSC recommendations are approved. However, the things will be clear only after the MHA’s verdict

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has disclosed that 77,099 posts are lying vacant across various departments in the Union Territory, including both direct and promotion quota positions, with the highest number of vacancies reported in key sectors such as Health, School Education, Public Works, and Power Development

As per the data, a total of 38,08 gazetted direct quota posts, 24,507 non-gazetted direct quota posts, and 12,351 MTS direct quota posts are vacant across departments. Similarly, under the promotion quota, 6,409 gazetted, 24,451 non-gazetted, and 5,573 MTS posts are lying vacant.

Among major departments, the Health and Medical Education Department has the highest number of vacancies, with 2,497 gazetted, 8,088 non-gazetted, and 2,712 MTS posts under the direct quota alone.

Additionally, 898 gazetted, 3,601 non-gazetted, and 27 MTS posts are vacant under the promotion quota in the same department.

The School Education Department recorded significant shortages, with 594 gazetted, 727 non-gazetted, and 43 MTS direct quota vacancies, along with 2,683 gazetted, 3,598 non-gazetted, and 1,762 MTS posts under promotion quota.

In the infrastructure sector, the Public Works (R&B) Department has 770 non-gazetted and 2,841 MTS direct quota vacancies, besides 225 gazetted and 360 non-gazetted promotion quota posts.

The Power Development Department shows 54 gazetted, 1,637 non-gazetted and 141 MTS direct vacancies, along with 148 gazetted, 1,790 non-gazetted and 2,641 MTS posts under promotion quota.

Similarly, the Agriculture Production Department (including Animal-Sheep Husbandry and Horticulture) has over 2,000 non-gazetted and nearly 3,000 MTS direct quota vacancies, apart from substantial promotion quota posts.
