Director School Education Jammu, Jb. Naseem Javed Choudhary, conducted a comprehensive academic inspection of a series of schools in the Bani zone today. He was accompanied by Chief Education Officer Kathua, Sh. Kewal Krishan. Jb Arshad Choudhary Financial Advisor DSEJ also accompanied the team.

The inspection covered Higher Secondary School Bani, Government Girls High School Bani, Government Middle School Boys Bani, and Higher Secondary School Lowang . During the visit, Jb. Naseem Javed Choudhary carried out a detailed review of the academic processes being followed in these institutions. Classroom transactions, teaching methodologies, student engagement, and overall learning outcomes were closely observed to assess the quality of education being imparted.

A significant part of the visit was devoted to an in-depth analysis of students’ academic performance and recent examination results. The Director expressed satisfaction over the achievements in certain areas while also identifying gaps that require focused attention. He emphasized the need for consistent efforts, data-driven strategies, and remedial measures to further improve learning outcomes and ensure better results in upcoming examinations.

The Director also undertook a thorough inspection of the school infrastructure, including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, sanitation facilities, and availability of basic amenities. He stressed optimal utilization of available resources and called for timely upgradation wherever required to create a more conducive and student-friendly learning environment.

An interactive session with the teaching faculty and school staff was held at each institution. During these sessions, Jb Naseem Javed Choudhary patiently listened to the concerns and challenges faced by the staff and assured that genuine issues would be addressed on priority. He also acknowledged and appreciated the notable achievements and innovative practices adopted by the teachers in enhancing the teaching-learning process.

While interacting with the staff, the Director issued clear directions aimed at strengthening academic standards, improving student performance, and ensuring effective implementation of educational initiatives. He encouraged teachers to adopt activity-based and competency-driven teaching approaches and to maintain a strong focus on conceptual understanding among students.

Chief Education Officer Kathua, Shri Kewal Krishan, also reviewed the functioning of the schools and motivated the staff to work with dedication and commitment towards the holistic development of students.

The visit is being seen as a constructive step towards reinforcing accountability, enhancing academic excellence, and ensuring continuous improvement in the education system across the Bani zone.

Kathua tops division in ToFEI implementation

District team participates in NTCP workshop; 100% target emphasized

Kathua, April 20: District Kathua has secured the top position at the divisional level in the implementation of To***co-Free Educational Institutions (ToFEI) guidelines, achieving 81 percent in the self-assessment under the National To***co Control Programme (NTCP).

The achievement was highlighted during a stakeholder sensitization workshop held at Jammu for effective implementation of ToFEI guidelines. The workshop was organized by the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, and witnessed participation from officials of the Education and Health Departments and other stakeholders.

Addressing the participants, Joint Director School Education, Jammu, Gurdev Kumar (JKAS) emphasized that to***co-free educational institutions are not merely a governmental mandate but a collective societal responsibility. He called for sustained efforts and strengthened awareness to ensure effective implementation.

Joint Director (EE), Romi Kumar, highlighted the importance of continuous monitoring at the school level, regular awareness initiatives and active student participation for achieving desired outcomes under ToFEI guidelines.

The Kathua district team, led by District Nodal Officer (ToFEI) Monika Khosla, along with Zonal Nodal Officers Sunita Kumari, Meetu Gupta and Ajay Kumar, actively participated in the deliberations and shared field-level experiences.

During the workshop, experts and senior officers emphasized that ensuring to***co-free educational institutions is a collective societal responsibility. They stressed the need for sustained awareness campaigns, regular monitoring at the school level and active student participation to ensure effective implementation of the guidelines.

The technical sessions covered key aspects including the burden of to***co use, provisions of COTPA, 2003, ToFEI guidelines, portal operations and implementation challenges at the grassroots level. An interactive session was also held, allowing participants to discuss practical issues and seek clarifications.

Chief Education Officer, Kathua, Kewal Krishan appreciated the efforts of the district team and reiterated the department’s commitment towards achieving 100 percent to***co-free educational institutions. He emphasized that coordinated efforts, continuous monitoring and awareness initiatives will play a crucial role in achieving the desired objective.

The district team resolved to further intensify awareness drives and ensure effective implementation of ToFEI guidelines across all educational institutions in Kathua.

Visit to PM SHRI School, Dhar Mahanpur during Public Darbar

On the occasion of a Public Darbar organized by the Deputy Commissioner, Kathua at Dhar Mahanpur, PM SHRI School, Dhar Mahanpur was honoured by the visit of the Worthy Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, accompanied by the Respected Chief Education Officer, Kathua, Sh. Kewal Krishan Ji.

Academic and MDM Inspection Conducted at Government High School Chadwal

Under the able guidance of Sh. Kewal Krishan, an academic and Mid-Day Meal (MDM) inspection was conducted at Government High School Chadwal.

During the visit, the Worthy Chief Education Officer thoroughly inspected classroom teaching, students’ academic performance, and the maintenance of school records. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring quality education, regular attendance, and effective classroom practices.

Awareness Rally Culminates Three-Day Programme at Kathua; Students Felicitated for Competitions

Kathua, April 10:

The three-day Awareness Programme organized by the School Education Department in Kathua culminated today with a vibrant awareness rally and felicitation ceremony, marking the successful conclusion of the initiative.

The rally was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Sh. Rajesh Sharma, from Government Boys Higher Secondary School Kathua. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and officials, spreading awareness on key themes including Traffic Awareness, Environmental Protection, Mental Health, Drug De-addiction, and Academic and career Counselling .

Addressing the students, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of staying away from substance abuse and maintaining focus on studies. He motivated students to remain disciplined, inspired, and committed towards their goals, while adopting a healthy and responsible lifestyle.

The Chief Education Officer Kathua, Sh. Kewal Krishan also joined the Deputy Commissioner in flagging off the rally. Senior officials including Block Forest Officer Sh.Gulshan Kumar, District Health Officer Sh. Uttam Chand, and Traffic Officer Sh. Vikas Sharma were present on the occasion.

The Block Forest Officer Sh.Gulshan Kumar sensitized students about environmental conservation and informed them about various government initiatives and plantation drives. The District Health Officer Sh.Uttam Chand highlighted the importance of mental health and also cautioned students against excessive mobile usage, terming it as a growing form of addiction among youth.

These messages were further reinforced by the Deputy Commissioner, who encouraged students to stay focused and avoid all forms of addiction.

The programme was also attended by DEPO Kathua Smt Anjana Manyal and Sh.Jatinder Sethi , Principal Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua and Sh. Rajesh Sharma ,Principal Government Boys Higher Secondary School Kathua, along with other teaching staff.

Prior to the rally, students who excelled in various competitions held on the second day at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua were felicitated and awarded prizes.

Series of competitions held on Day 2 at Kathua

KATHUA, APRIL 09: The second day of the ongoing three-day multi-theme awareness programme organised by the School Education Department was marked by painting, quiz and essay writing competitions held at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Girls Kathua amid enthusiastic participation of students from across the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Education Officer Kewal Krishan highlighted that the activities based on key themes—mental health, drug de-addiction, traffic awareness and environmental protection—aim to draw students’ attention towards these pressing issues and encourage their active participation in addressing them. He emphasised that children at the school-going age are best placed to understand and imbibe the difference between right and wrong, thereby shaping themselves into responsible citizens.

Awareness Drive Kicks Off in Kathua; Three-Day Programme Focuses on Key Social Issues

Kathua, April 8:
A three-day awareness programme aimed at sensitizing students on crucial social and developmental issues commenced today in Kathua district with an engaging and well-coordinated inaugural session.

The programme was organized under the aegis of the Directorate of School Education Jammu and was conducted in coordination with the divisional-level event. While this was a district-level programme at Kathua, the main inaugural ceremony was held at the divisional headquarters and streamed live through virtual mode across all districts.

The event was formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Jb Omar Abdullah.
In addition to the district venue, the programme was also viewed across the district at the school level, where students and teachers from various institutions joined virtually from their respective schools, ensuring wider participation and outreach.

During the inaugural session, all officers, teachers, and students joined the Hon’ble Chief Minister in taking a collective pledge on key themes including Traffic Awareness, Environmental Protection, Mental Health, and Drug De-addiction, reaffirming their commitment towards building a responsible and aware society.

The district level programme which was held at Government Degree College for Women Kathua , witnessed the presence of senior district officials including the Deputy Commissioner Kathua Sh Rajesh Sharma , ADDC Kathua Sh.Surinder Mohan Sharma, DFO Kathua Sh.Ankit Sinha , RTO Kathua Sh. Surinder Paul Sharma, CMO Kathua Sh.Vijay Raina , District SWO Sh.Varun Chaudhary , DIO Sh.Rajinder Digra, CEO Kathua Sh.Kewal Krishan and DEPO Kathua Smt Anjana Manyal .

The Principal of Government Degree College for Women Kathua was also present on the occasion.

Also present were the Principals of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Kathua , Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua , and Government Higher Secondary School Nagri Parole, along with the Headmaster of the High School.

The first day featured a series of expert sessions on important themes such as Traffic Awareness, Environmental Awareness, Mental Health, Drug De-addiction, and Academic & Career Guidance. The sessions were highly informative and engaging, with students listening attentively and gaining valuable insights.

The district level event was effectively anchored by Mrs. Rita Sharma, ensuring smooth and seamless conduct. Students from various educational institutions participated enthusiastically.

The second day of the programme will be held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua, where Essay Writing, Painting, and Quiz Competitions will be organized on the same themes.

The third day will feature an awareness rally from Government Boys Higher Secondary School Kathua, aimed at spreading awareness among the general public through active student participation.

The inaugural day concluded on a positive and impactful note, setting the tone for the upcoming activities planned over the next two days.
