Sri Sankara Vidyalayaa, Karur

Colours Day was celebrated jubilantly at Sri Sankara Vidyalayaa, Karur on 18 August 2023. Recent research shows that colours play a pivotal role in behaviour of learners, comprehension and ultimately their success in the learning environment.

Bearing in mind this great discovery, the day at Sri Sankara Vidyalayaa began with the special general assembly. The students belonging to different segments attended the school following divergent theme colours. For the Kindergarten segment, the colours were Red, Blue, yellow, Green and Pink. For Grades 1 - 5 Orange, for Grades 6 - 9 Green and for Grades 10 - 12 Blue.

There were sparkling cultural programmes staged. The significance of colours was brought out marvelously by the little Champs of Kindergarten and primary segment by virtue of varied performances.

Mr. Palani Samy, the Founder, Mr. Ashok Shankar, the Correspondent, Mr. Anand Shankar, the Secretary graced the occasion and encouraged the students. Mr. Kameshwar Rao, the Principal and Vice Principals of all the segments were also present at the function.

Raksha Bandhan was celebrated to show the love and respect between brothers and sisters. The Rakhi is tied in the left hand of brothers’ wrist. Sisters offer special prayers for the well being, prosperity and success of their brothers. On the other hand, brothers ensure that they would protect their sisters throughout their life. Though this festival is popularly celebrated in northern states of India the bond shared is common around the world. We SSVians are expressing our gratitude and love for the all the people who are protecting us day and night. Around 500 Rakhi bands were collected from SSV that were handmade by Students of grades 6-12, which was gifted to people in Karur including Police officers, Post officers, Vendors and general public as a token of love. Such celebrations give hope that the future generation is having a healthy relationship and women live in a safer place.

Annual Sports day and Independence Day was celebrated at Sri Sankara Vidyalayaa in a grand manner. It was held for grades 3 to 12 on August 15.The children were all enthusiastic and determined. The showcase of uniformity and teamwork in the march-past performed by the students was an absolute piece of visual treat to one’s eyes. Tablo, Horse Riding, Taekwondo, Silambam, Mass Drill, Aerobic Dance, track events were some of the major events that took place during the day. Speeches in honour of 77th Indian independence in Tamil and English were a treat to the audience. The sight of the students belonging to their respective teams, competing to grab the win for their team in relay was really thrilling. The participants of the relay were from the School teams Astra(Red), Chakra(Yellow), Garuda(Green) and Vajra(Blue). The elected captains of Sri Sankara Vidyalayaa guided and motivated their fellow teammates to rise up with flying colours. Teachers were also encouraged to express their talents on this occasion. This event helped to bring up the interests of the students towards various athletic sports and extra-curricular activities. The programme came to an end with the Indian National anthem sung with high regards to the sung heroes of the past and unsung heroes of the present and distribution of sweets.

Our ATL trainers have taken an incredible initiative to identify, encourage and appreciate the curious and creative young minds exclusively the girls, who can now embrace the opportunity to exhibit their creation and learn from their experiences through ATL – a government initiative with a vision to ‘Cultivate one Million children in India as Neoteric Innovators’ by establishing ATL tinkering labs in schools. It is highly impressive that 2 teams of Sri Sankara Vidyalayaa were selected out of 75 finalists as part of ATL Marathon 2021 across the country. The projects by Sri Sankara Vidyalayaa -‘ Tawa Tawa drink’ and ‘ An edible and fusible polybag’. On July 24, 2023 a Mentor Session headed by Mr. Valliappan. M , MOC, AIM, was organized at Sri Sankara Vidyalayaa. Pujana Priya and Jayasri of Grade 10, the winners of ATL Marathon 2021 conducted a session for their juniors of Grade 7 students of Sri Sankara Vidyalayaa and Non-ATL students of J V High School Nachiapuram.

SSV's motto is to create leaders of tomorrow and there is a special ceremony that turns it into reality. For us, Investiture Ceremony is not just about providing titles, but about conferring responsibilities to the students, to take charge of the school and take it to the height they desire with their leadership and decision making skills, communication and teamwork.

The International Plastic Bag Free Day, celebrated on July 3, is a global initiative that aims to eliminate the use of Use n Throw Plastic bags. The students of Grade 5 at Sri Sankara Vidyalaya, Karur organised and participated in a rally, creating awareness about avoiding plastics and promoting usage of Eco- Friendly and reusable bags for sustainable existence. The rally was flagged off at Karur bus stand round about and proceeded till EB office. All way long the students carried posters and banners while raising slogans against plastic pollution and for building a plastic- free nation.The Correspondent Mr.Ashok Shankar appreciated the efforts of the future citizens and wished them Good Luck for their endeavours.

SSV Grandparent's Day

Grandparents are the greatest treasure that a child can ever get in his/ her life.

We at SSV, feel privileged to host such an enigmatic ceremony for the Grandparents of our KG students on the pleasant eve of 03/02/2023 (Friday).

We felt immensely blessed to see the happiness and joy of the Grandparents throughout the programme.

Their august presence and spectacular participation in all the Games, added a mesmerising charm to the event.

It is indeed a magnificent memory that we would love to cherish for years to come.

Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Campaign @ SSV

According to UNICEF, poor menstrual hygiene can pose physical health risks and has been linked to reproductive and urinary tract infections. Creating awareness and openness is one of the most effective ways to help teach girls how to properly manage their menstrual hygiene.

An awareness Campaign on Menstrual Hygiene & Hygienic Disposal of Sanitary Napkins was conducted on 03/12/2022 (Saturday) for the girls of Grades VI - XII by our Principal.

It was an interactive session and doubts were clarified on the various aspects of Menstrual Health and Hygiene.
