Sainik School Kunjpura is one of the first five schools established by the Sainik Schools Society, New Delhi in 1961.

This school was founded by (late) Shri V.K. Krishna Menon, the then Defence Minister of India, on 24th July, 1961.

Final Whistle, Lasting Glory: IGHT 2026-27 Ends on a High Note at Sainik School Kunjpura

The Intra Group Hockey Tournament Group ‘A’ concluded on a high note at Sainik School Kunjpura on 15 May 2026 with excitement, discipline and exceptional sportsmanship on display throughout the tournament.
The tournament was organised under the guidance of Captain (IN) Gurbir Singh, Principal, with Lt Col Nirmal Jeet Singh, Vice Principal, Wg Cdr Soniya Sharma, Administrative Officer and Lt Col Sandeep Rathi, overseeing the successful conduct of the event.
The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Karnal, as the Chief Guest.
The tournament finale featured a thrilling Under-17 Boys final between Sainik School Kapurthala and Sainik School Sujanpur Tira. After regular time ended in a gripping 2–2 draw, Sainik School Kapurthala emerged victorious in the penalty shootout. The closing ceremony also included an impressive march past by participating teams, followed by the prize distribution ceremony.
In the Under-15 Boys category, Sainik School Sujanpur Tira defeated Sainik School Kapurthala by 1–0 to lift the title. Cadet Vivaan A***n of Sainik School Sujanpur Tira was adjudged Best Player, while Cadet Nishant of Sainik School Kapurthala received the Best Goalkeeper award.
In the Under-17 Girls category, Sainik School Kunjpura defeated Sainik School Sujanpur Tira by 2–0 to emerge champions. Cadet Yashu of Sainik School Kunjpura was declared Best Player and Cadet Avani of Sainik School Kunjpura received the Best Goalkeeper award.
In the Under-17 Boys category, Cadet Gurvir Singh of Sainik School Kapurthala was awarded Best Player, while Cadet Anmol Sharma of Sainik School Sujanpur Tira received the Best Goalkeeper award.
Addressing the gathering, Capt (IN) Gurbir Singh congratulated all participating teams and appreciated the spirit of discipline, teamwork and healthy competition displayed by the young players during the tournament.

Investiture Ceremony and Academic Badge Presentation Conducted at Sainik School Kunjpura

Sainik School Kunjpura successfully conducted the Investiture Ceremony and Academic Badge Presentation for the session 2026–27 at the Manekshaw Auditorium.
The ceremony commenced with the presentation of Academic Badges and Torches to cadets for their outstanding academic performance in the previous session. This was followed by the Investiture Ceremony, during which the newly selected cadet leaders were formally appointed. Badges of appointment were conferred upon the cadets by Captain (IN) Gurbir Singh, Principal, Sainik School Kunjpura.
Subsequently, the Principal administered the oath to the newly appointed cadet leaders, exhorting them to uphold the values of discipline, leadership, dedication, and excellence in all their endeavours.
The function concluded with the Principal’s address, in which he congratulated the achievers and appointees and encouraged them to discharge their responsibilities with honour and commitment.
The ceremony reflected the school’s commitment to fostering leadership qualities, recognising merit, and instilling a strong sense of responsibility and service among cadets.
Sainik School Kunjpura extends its heartfelt congratulations to all appointees and academic achievers and wishes them continued success.

Opening Ceremony of Intra Group Hockey Tournament 2026–27 Held at Sainik School Kunjpura

Sainik School Kunjpura proudly hosted the Opening Ceremony of the Intra Group Hockey Tournament 2026–27 (Group ‘A’), scheduled from 10 May to 15 May 2026, marking the commencement of the prestigious sporting event with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The tournament was formally declared open by Captain (IN) Gurbir Singh, Principal, Sainik School Kunjpura, who released balloons to symbolise unity, aspiration, and the spirit of healthy competition.
As the host school, Sainik School Kunjpura is also actively participating in the tournament alongside teams from Sainik School Kapurthala, Sainik School Sujanpur Tira, Sainik School Nagrota, and Woods Park Sainik School, Hamirpur.

The opening ceremony reflected discipline, camaraderie, and enthusiasm among the participating cadets. Following the ceremony, matches commenced on 10 May 2026 and will continue until 15 May 2026, promising an exciting week of competitive hockey.
The tournament aims to promote physical fitness, teamwork, leadership, perseverance, and sportsmanship among cadets while strengthening bonds among participating schools.

Heartiest congratulations to the 37 warriors of Sainik School Kunjpura for their stellar achievement in clearing the NDA Written Examination . The proud achievers include 21 cadets of the 2025–26 batch and 16 cadets of the 2024–25 batch.

Major General Ranjan Mahajan, SM, VSM (Retd), addressed cadets during an Interactive Session on Leadership

A motivational and interactive session on “Leadership and Self-Motivation” was conducted on 05 May 2026 in the School Auditorium. The lecture aimed to inspire cadets to develop leadership qualities, build strong character, and adopt a disciplined and goal-oriented approach to life.

The session was graced by the distinguished speaker, Major General Ranjan Mahajan, SM, VSM (Retd), a highly decorated officer commissioned in December 1987 into the 4th Battalion, the Rajputana Rifles. With over 35 years of exemplary service in the Indian Army, he has served across diverse terrains including plains, mountains, deserts, and high-altitude areas. A veteran of multiple tenures in Jammu & Kashmir, he has commanded key formations in counter-insurgency and along the Line of Control. He has also served as Additional Director General of NCC and Recruiting. In recognition of his distinguished service, he has been awarded the Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.

The session was attended by cadets of Classes VI to XII, along with the Principal, Vice Principal, Adm Officer, faculty members, and staff. The primary objective was to motivate cadets to embrace challenges, develop self-belief, and strive for excellence in all spheres.

The speaker delivered an engaging address focusing on the essence of leadership and the importance of character. He emphasized that character forms the foundation upon which the effectiveness, integrity, and success of any individual or organization rests.

Through inspiring real-life examples such as Moti Ram and Naik Rajender Kumar, the lecture highlighted the values of courage, perseverance, and dedication. Cadets were encouraged never to underestimate the power of perseverance and to remain committed to their goals despite challenges.

The session stressed the importance of creating and utilizing opportunities with a focused approach, reinforcing the belief that “Where there is a will, there is a way.” Cadets were motivated to take ownership of their journey and overcome fear, echoing the message: “Darr ke aage jeet hai.”

The speaker also discussed the significance of time management through the concept of Parkinson’s Law, explaining how setting shorter deadlines enhances productivity and creativity.

Further, the lecture emphasized that success demands courage and the willingness to step into the unknown. Cadets were encouraged to take risks, learn from failures, and continuously improve themselves.

Highlighting key principles for success, the speaker urged cadets to set ambitious goals, work consistently, ignore negativity, and remain guided by perseverance and knowledge.

In conclusion, the session underscored that motivation is a self-driven force that propels individuals toward excellence. The lecture proved to be highly inspiring and impactful, leaving cadets motivated to face challenges with confidence and determination.

The session reinforced the School’s commitment to nurturing disciplined, resilient, and value-driven future leaders dedicated to serving the nation.

🏑 Inter House Hockey Tournament | 27–30 April 2026 🏆
Sainik School Kunjpura witnessed four days of thrilling hockey action as our cadets battled it out on the field during the Inter House Hockey Competition held from 27th to 30th April 2026.

🔥 With skill, strategy, and unbreakable team spirit on full display, it was Chillianwala House that emerged champions in the Seniors category, Kurukshetra House that triumphed in the Juniors category, and Shakargarh House that clinched the title in the Girls category! Congratulations to all the young warriors for their outstanding performance! 👏

The event concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony where our esteemed Principal, Captain (IN) Gurbir Singh, awarded the winners and addressed the cadets. He appreciated their enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsmanship, emphasizing the value of games in shaping future leaders. 💬

MOTIVATIONAL LECTURE BY CAPT (IN) DAVINDER SINGH GAHLOT (RETD)

A motivational lecture on “Ethical Timeless Teachings for Robust Youth – The Eternal Inspiration” was conducted at Sainik School Kunjpura on 25 April 2026 in the School Auditorium. The session was delivered by Capt (IN) Davinder Singh Gahlot (Retd), an esteemed alumnus of the School.

The lecture was attended by cadets of Classes VI to XII, along with the Principal, Vice Principal, teachers, and staff. The primary objective of the session was to inspire young cadets and inculcate in them the spirit of selfless service towards the Nation.

Capt (IN) Davinder Singh Gahlot (Retd), an alumnus of Sainik School Kunjpura (Batch 1978–1985), was commissioned into the Indian Navy in January 1993. During his address, the speaker shared enriching experiences from his professional journey, including participation in the Commando Course at Belgaum, highlighting the importance of grit, endurance, and perseverance.

A distinguished veteran and an avid researcher on the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, the speaker delivered an insightful lecture that seamlessly integrated ethical, spiritual, and military values. He elaborated on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, particularly focusing on the evolution of human consciousness from animality to godliness, and emphasised their relevance in character building and leadership development.

While speaking on “Swami Vivekananda – Ideas for Robust Youth,” he outlined seven essential qualities for cadets: Power of Concentration, Fearlessness, Physical and Mental Strength, Faith in Oneself, Self-Discipline, Obedience without fault-finding, and Character.

Sharing his Jeevan Mantra, he stated, “Life is short, the vanities of the world are transient, but they alone live who live for others; the rest are more dead than alive.” Reinforcing this message with Swami Vivekananda’s words, he motivated the cadets to believe in their inner strength and strive to manifest their true potential through dedicated effort and disciplined living.

He further remarked that every meaningful endeavour undergoes the stages of ridicule, opposition, and eventual acceptance, encouraging cadets to remain steadfast in their convictions. Referring to the Vedic invocation, “Let noble thoughts come to us from all directions,” he concluded by emphasising that sincere effort, combined with divine grace, leads to success in life.

The speaker also highlighted the dignity, challenges, and honour associated with a career in the Armed Forces, urging cadets to uphold the core values of duty, honour, and integrity, and to pursue excellence in all spheres of life.

The lecture proved to be highly enriching and inspirational, reinforcing the School’s commitment to nurturing leaders of character dedicated to serving the Nation. Sainik School Kunjpura continues to uphold its proud legacy of producing officers for the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force.

Honour Ceremony in Memory of Late Maj Neeraj Malik 🇮🇳

Sainik School Kunjpura paid heartfelt tribute to its brave alumnus Late Maj Neeraj Malik, who laid down his life for the nation 28 years ago.
The day began with a wreath laying ceremony at the School War Memorial, where family members and senior officers paid floral tributes to the fallen hero.
The ceremony was graced by Maj Gen Prince Duggal, GOC Sub Area, and Maj Gen Bhupinder Singh (Retd), along with officers, staff, cadets, and the family of the martyr, especially Mrs Jyoti Malik.
Maj Gen Bhupinder Singh inspired cadets with his words, encouraging them to live by the values of honour, courage, and commitment.
The ceremony reaffirmed our resolve to uphold the legacy of our brave Kunjeyan.
