Through Web SIG of NMAMIT ACM Student Chapter, a workshop on Basics of Web Technology was conducted on 9 November 2017. Mr. Amardhruva N Prabhu, III year CSE student cm ACM Web SIG Head was the resource person. Python Basics and HTML were covered in the workshop. 10 students from Web SIG group attended the workshop.

NMAMIT ACM Student Chapter organized the Inauguration of its activities for AY 2017-18 on 02 November 2017. 100 ACM student members participated in the event. Dr. I Ramesh Mithanthaya, Vice-principal & Dean (Academics) was the Chief Guest and Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Principal was the President of the event. Dr. Balasubramani R, Chief Coordinator florally welcomed the Chief Guest, President and the newly elected Chair, Mr. Pradeep B and Vice-chair, Mr. Adithya K V. Chief Guest and the President distributed badges to the newly elected office bearers. The President administered oath to the new office bearers. The President and the Chief Guest spoke about the importance of Professional Society chapters in academics. The Chief Coordinator gave an overview of various chapter activities along with new initiatives. Mr. Pradeep B briefed about various activities conducted in AY 2016-17 and upcoming events for the year 2017-18. Prof. Venugopala P S, Dept. of CSE proposed vote of thanks. Ms. Keerthana performed Master of Ceremony. Prof. Devidas, Prof. Ashwini and Prof. Deepa from ISE and Prof. Ankitha from CSE participated in the event.

NMAMIT ACM Student Chapter organized a talk to share the experiences of ten students who participated in the Student Exchange Program (SAKURA) at Ritsumeiken University, Japan during December 2016 and four students who participated in the final round of Hackathon at Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester, UK during September 2017. Students shared their experience such as Japanese Cuisine, Accommodation, Japanese Culture, Technical Know-how etc. along with Hackathon experiences at Manchester, UK. 100 students from various departments attended the program. Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT set the tone for the program by giving guidelines on how to apply for various hackathon and other competitive events. Dr. Uday Kumar G, HOD, Civil Dept. participated in the event.

A workshop on Mobile Application Developement using Android was conducted for the students of the Mobile Application Development Special Interest Group. The six day workshop was conducted from 19th September to 22nd September 2017 from 4:30 pm to 6 pm, on 28th September 2017 from 2 pm to 4:30 pm and on 5th October 2017 from 2 pm to 4:30 pm.
This workshop was mainly conducted for those students who were completely new to the world of App Development, the topics included were from basic to intermediate level.
The workshops sessions were led by Prof. Venugopala P.S.(CSE Dept), Prof. Ashwini B (ISE Dept) and Prof. Ankitha A Nayak (CSE Dept). The students were assigned individual tasks to be done on their own with the guidance of the SIG Head.
The following topics were discussed during the sessions : Basic Form Elements, Toast Messages, Multiple Activities, Intents, Bundles, Running services to play music, and the basic functioning of the sensors contained within the phone.
The workshop had an average attendance of 15 students throughout the sessions.
Based on the topics discussed in the sessions, a simple task of developing a simple calculator was assigned to all the students who were asked to design and develop the same, within a week.
Later Mini Projects were assigned to students by the SIG head,
Glenn Thomas Alex, which involved the use of slightly advanced concepts of Android App Development. The students had to study about the topics on their own and were given 2 weeks to develop the project and submit it.

NMAMIT ACM Student Chapter organized a Two Days Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in association with HT India Labs, New Delhi. 48 students from CS, IS and ECE participated in the workshop. Mr. Animesh Yadav from HT India Labs was the trainer. Modules covered in the workshop: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Working with Fuzzy Logic Algorithm, Problem Formulation, Defuzzification & Rulebase, Introduction to Machine Learning, Applications of Machine Learning, Database Mining, Supervised Learning Introduction and Examples, Dynamic Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithm, Case Studies. Mr. Jason and Mr. Abhir Bhandary from ISE and Dr. Javed from CSE were staff coordinators. Mr. Aditya Pai, Mr. Nandan Prabhu and Mr. Kishore from ISE were student volunteers.

NMAMIT ACM Student Chapter organized a One Day Industry Visit to Infosys Development Centre, Mudipu, Mangalore on 18 August 2016. Third year CS & IS and second year MCA students, 100 total in number participated in the Industry Visit. Mr. Sandeep Hegde (CSE), Mr.Devidas(ISE) and Mr. Anantha Murthy (MCA) were the faculty coordinators and accompanied the student to Infosys. Ms.Veena Amrith, Lead Executive – Training & Administration was the staff coordinator in Infosys. Mr. Praveen, Senior Project Lead, Infosys addressed the students about the functioning of IT industry and corporate environment. The students were taken around the campus and visited various IT and infrastructure facilities. Dr. Balasubramani R, Professor, Dept. of ISE was the Chief Coordinator. This event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT & Dr. I R Mithanthaya, Vice-Principal & TEQIP Coordinator, NMAMIT.

NMAMIT ACM Student Chapter organized a talk on “Benefits of Industry Relevant International Certifications” on 22 August 2017 in association with ICT Academy. 150+ students participated in the program. Dr. Balasubramani welcomed the gathering and introduced ICT Academy and the resource persons Mr. Vishu Prasad and Mr. Basavadarshan from ICT Academy. Mr. Vishnu Prasad explained in detail about the benefits of industry relevant international certifications like Data Science & Big Data Analytics from DellEMC, Data Center Virtualization from VMware and App Builder Platform from Salesforce. Also, he motivated the students to take part in Youth Talk and Innovator Award organized by ICT Academy. Dr. Balasubramani asked the students to take up free MOOC courses available through VMware and Salesforce Platforms and proposed vote of thanks.

ACM Student Chapter in association with Infosys Campus Connect facilitated Infosys recruited students of the year 2016 to attend a doubt clarification and interaction webinar series (weekly) on Foundation Program 5.0 from 9th February 2017 to 27th April 2017. The webinar series was organized by Infosys Ltd. The webinar focused on five modules of the Foundation Program 5.0 focusing on fostering industry orientation and team work. Mr.Anoop Singh ,Principal, ETA, Infosys DC, Bangalore , Mr. Hari, Lead, ETA, Infosys DC, Trivandrum and Mrs. Sahanakumara Swamy, Lead, ETA, Infosys DC, Bangalore were the resource person of the webinar. The webinar series were attended by the four faculty members of Computer Science & Engineering department and 140 students from the different Departments of College. The Webinar series were coordinated by Mr.Sandeep Kumar Hegde, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering under the Guidance of Dr. Balasubramani R – SpoC, Infosys Campus Connect.

ACM Student Chapter in association with NBA Nodal Centre of NMAMIT, Nitte organized a two days training programme on IonCUDOS OBE Software during 25-26 April 2017. 75 faculty members from all the departments participated in the training programme. Mr. Vinay Havalad and Mr. Mritunjay Shettar from IonIDEA were the resource persons. Curriculum Design, Delivery Planning, Assessment Planning, Attainment & Analysis and Survey Modules were covered in the training. During the programme, Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT along with Dr. Srinivas Rao, Vice-principal & CoE addressed the participants. In his address, he emphasized that IonCUDOS software should be effectively used by all the faculty members and here afterwards all the NBA related documents and reports should be generated through this software only. This software should be used as One Stop Solution for all kinds of reports required for NBA, NAAC, UGC, AICTE, VTU or any other accreditation / statutory bodies. Dr. Balasubramani R, NBA Nodal Centre Coordinator was the Convener and Mr. Devidas, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ISE was the staff coordinator. Mr. Rajeevan, System Analyst facilitated necessary hardware and software requirements for the training.
