Empowering Girls Through Self-Defence: A Special Programme at VRS

Today, a Self-Defence Awareness Programme was conducted on the school campus exclusively for the high school girls. The session was led by Shihan K. Vasanth Kumar, a renowned police karate instructor known for his expertise and dynamic training methods.

The programme aimed to equip students with essential techniques of self-protection and to build confidence, alertness, and presence of mind during unforeseen situations. Shihan Vasanth Kumar demonstrated simple yet effective moves that the girls can practise regularly to ensure their personal safety. The session was interactive, empowering, and highly appreciated by the students.

The event was graced by the presence of Chairman Sir, Polsani Sudhakar Rao, Member of Advisory Committee, Laxman Rao, Principal, Renuka Baliwada, and Vice Principal, Mogli Prashanth, who encouraged the students with their motivating presence.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman Sir, Polsani Sudhakar Rao, conveyed a powerful message emphasizing the importance of self-defence training for every girl in today’s world. He highlighted that awareness, confidence, and the ability to react at the right moment are invaluable life skills. He further appreciated the efforts of the school for organizing such meaningful programmes that contribute to the holistic development and safety of students.

Consumer Awareness and Rights Programme at VRS

Vivekananda Residential School organized a Consumer Awareness and Rights Programme for the students of Grade IX with the objective of educating them about responsible consumer behavior and legal rights. The programme aimed to create awareness among students so that they grow into informed, alert, and responsible citizens in their day-to-day lives.

The programme was graced by the Chief Guest Shri Prakash Holla, a respected social worker of Karimnagar and the Chairman of the Karimnagar Consumers’ Council. He is also associated with Loksatta and the Lions Charitable Trust Eye Hospital (Rekruthi) and has been actively involved in social service and consumer protection initiatives for several years.

The event was attended by Principal Mrs. Renuka Balivada and Advisory Committee Member Shri Gandra Laxman Rao, who motivated students to be cautious and responsible consumers. On this occasion, Chairman Dr. Sudhakar Rao Polsani and Director Academics Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari conveyed their messages, emphasizing the need for consumer education from a young age to prevent exploitation and unfair practices.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Prakash Holla spoke on the topic “Consumer Awareness and Rights.”

He explained who a consumer is, stating that anyone who purchases goods or avails services becomes a consumer. He elaborated on important consumer rights such as the right to safety, right to information, right to choice, and right to be heard, using simple examples relevant to students.

He also created awareness about digital tools by explaining the purpose and benefits of the UMANG App, which helps citizens access various government services easily. In addition, he informed students about the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) and guided them on how to register complaints in cases of unfair trade practices.

The programme concluded on an informative and inspiring note, empowering students with knowledge and confidence to protect their rights as responsible consumers.

Financial Literacy and Cyber Safety Awareness Programme

A Financial Literacy Session was successfully conducted at Vivekananda Residential School, Karimnagar for the students of Classes 8 and 9, with the objective of creating awareness about financial management and digital safety.

The session was conducted by esteemed delegates from Telangana Grameena Bank—Mr. R. Vijay Singh, Chief Manager (Business), Mr. V. Shekar, Branch Manager Dev Raj, FI Manager. The programme was highly informative and educative, focusing on awareness about cyber crimes, online frauds, and ATM frauds, and the necessary precautionary measures.

A special attraction of the programme was the entertaining presentation by the Vibhudi Brothers, who explained financial concepts through a dance drama using folk songs, humour, and jokes, making the session lively, engaging, and easily understandable for students. Information about various bank schemes, loans, and insurance benefits was also shared.

At the end of the session, the guests were felicitated by the Principal, Ms. Renuka Balivada, Senior Advisor Mr. Gandra LaxmanRao and the Vice Principal, Mr. M. Prasanth, in appreciation of their valuable contribution.

The school expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman, Dr. V. Sudhakar Rao, and the Director (Academics), Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari, for their constant guidance and support in organising the programme.

Overall, the programme was highly successful and enriched students with essential financial knowledge and cyber safety awareness.

*Awareness Session on Personal Hygiene and Adolescence Changes*

Vivekananda Residential School, Karimnagar, hosted an enlightening talk on "Personal Hygiene and Adolescence Changes in Girls" for girls of classes 8-10, delivered by the esteemed Dr. Geetha Reddy, Dermatologist and General Surgeon, Professor at Prathima Medical College, Karimnagar, and Director & Consultant at KPR Multi-Speciality Hospital.

Dr. Reddy covered essential topics, including daily routines, personal hygiene practices, stress relief techniques, healthy diets, importance of exercise, common adolescent diseases, skin problems, and necessary precautions. She actively encouraged questions from the girls, patiently clarifying their doubts to foster open dialogue.

This session proved invaluable, addressing critical knowledge gaps often overlooked in routine discussions. Heartfelt thanks to Chairman Dr. P. Sudhakar Rao and Director Academics, Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari for organizing this essential programme. Principal Renuka Balivada felicitated the speaker, concluding the event on a gracious note amid enthusiastic applause.

Inspiring Young Minds: A Personality Development and Motivation Session

A highly inspiring Personality Development and Motivation Session was organised for the students of Class 8 at Vivekananda Residential School. The session was conducted by Lion Capt. Dr. Madhusudhana Reddy Burra, a senior educationist, social worker, and renowned motivational speaker.

The session began with a warm welcome and sapling presentation to the resource person. During the session, Dr. Madhusudhana Reddy motivated the students through real-life examples and valuable guidance on self-confidence, discipline, positive thinking, and goal setting.

At the end of the programme, Dr. Madhusudhana Reddy was felicitated by the respected Principal, Mrs. Renuka Balivada, and Senior Advisor, Mr. Gandra Laxman Rao, as a mark of appreciation for his impactful session.

📐🧮 Math Week Celebration 🧠✨

Math Week was conducted with great enthusiasm, covering a wide range of topics across Classes VI to IX. VRS students actively participated in hands-on activities related to number systems, algebra, geometry, data handling, trigonometry, squares & cubes, tables, and more.

Through learn-by-doing activities, quizzes, games, constructions, and real-life problem solving, students explored mathematical concepts in a fun and engaging way. The celebration truly reflected the spirit of Mathematical Minds by encouraging logical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
