বাসের রুটটা দেখে অবাক হবেন না। একসময় কোলকাতা থেকে দিল্লি হয়ে লন্ডন যাওয়া যেত বাসে করে। তখন বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে বড় বাস রুট ছিল কোলকাতা টু লন্ডন ভায়া দিল্লি। কোন ভারতীয় বা ব্রিটিশ কোম্পানি না, অস্ট্রেলিয়ার সিডনি শহরের #অ্যালবার্ট_ট্যুর_কোম্পানি এই বাস চালাতো। প্রায় ২৫ বছর ধরে চলে এই বাস সার্ভিস।

১৯৫০ সালের প্রথম পর্যন্ত এই বাস সার্ভিস চালু ছিল। এই বাসের ভাড়া কোলকাতা থেকে লন্ডন ৮৫ পাউন্ড থেকে ১৪৫ পাউন্ড ছিল। বাস কোলকাতা ধর্মতলা থেকে ছেড়ে বেনারস, এলাহাবাদ, আগ্রা, দিল্লি,লাহোর, রাওয়ালপিন্ডি, কাবুল, কান্ধাহার, তেহরান, ইস্তানাবুল, যুগোস্লাভিয়া, বুলগেরিয়া হয়ে ইংল্যান্ড পৌছাত।
এই রাস্তা কমবেশি ২০৩০০ কিমি ছিল। ১১টি দেশ পার করে অবশেষে লন্ডন পৌছানো যেত।
