Jamyangling Model School is a wonderful co-educational residential school that was founded in 1994 by Lungnag Youth Association Zanskar with the generous support of Shambhala Charitable Trust Germany.

World Environment Day Celebration – 5 June 2026
Today, 5 June 2026, Jamyang Ling Model School, Raru Zanskar, observed a mega plantation drive on the occasion of World Environment Day. Around 550 tree saplings were provided by Mr. Dorjay, BDO Lungnak, Zanskar.
We are very thankful to Mr. Dorjay and his team for their valuable support. During the event, he also emphasized the importance of a proper waste management system in the school. He suggested that a waste collection vehicle should visit the school and hostel campus once a week to collect garbage and help maintain cleanliness.
We sincerely thank all the students and teachers for actively participating in the plantation drive and cleaning the school surroundings. Their efforts contributed greatly to making the program successful and meaningful.

Yesterday, Jamyang Ling Model School Raru Zanskar began the prayer ceremony for the construction of a new school building. It was marked with the hope that the work will proceed smoothly without any obstacles.
The Chairman, Managing Committee members, students, and teachers all prayed for the successful commencement of the work. The ceremony was conducted by the Head Lama of Money Gonpa.
The event also included the lighting of butter lamps (Gyamchoth), with more than 100 butter lamps lit as part of the prayer ceremony.
Special prayers were also offered for the school sponsor, Mr. Bernd, and the charitable trust in Germany, wishing them long life and the successful fulfillment of their noble mission.”

World Environment Day Celebration at JLMS Raru Zanskar

On 5th June, JLMS Raru Zanskar proudly celebrated World Environment Day at the school by organizing a large-scale plantation drive. Around 300 trees were planted by the students and staff, contributing to a greener and healthier environment. In addition to the plantation, efforts were made to clean the school surroundings and hostel premises, promoting the importance of hygiene and sustainability.
To mark the occasion, refreshments were distributed to all the participating students. JLMS Raru Zanskar has been observing World Environment Day every year on 5th June with a dedicated plantation drive, reaffirming its commitment to building a better world and greener surroundings for the future.

Yesterday, JLMS Raru Zanskar organized the Inter-House Quiz Competition between Nagari House and Kailash House. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and teachers, creating an atmosphere of excitement and healthy competition. Both teams performed admirably, showcasing their knowledge and teamwork. In the end, Ngari House emerged as the winner, but prizes and certificates were awarded not only to the winning team but also to all participants in recognition of their efforts and spirit. The competition concluded on a joyful note, inspiring students to continue learning beyond the classroom.
