The Innovation and Incubation Cell (IIC) of NIT Puducherry organized an Internal Hackathon as part of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024 on 12th and 13th September at Sigma Hall. A total of 26 teams from NIT Puducherry showcased 39 innovative solutions, addressing real-world challenges such as disaster management, optimization issues, and everyday problems. This event served as a platform for students to display their creativity, problem-solving expertise, and project management abilities. The hackathon was a resounding success, thanks to the invaluable support of jury members, including IIC faculty, who provided insights and feedback to the participants.

The EEE Students Association of NIT Puducherry (SPREE), organized a talk on “Career Guidance Session on Higher Studies”, which was graced by eminent personalities in the field of education. With the support of honourable Director Dr. K Sankaranayanasamy and esteemed Registrar Dr. S. Sundaravarathan, students were able to interact with Alumini’s about higher studies. Dr. Venkadesan A., Head of Department, EEE, Dr. Bijukumar B, Faculty In-charge/SPREE and faculties of EEE Department joined the session. The key speakers of the session were Mr. Ganesh Kunchala, Ex-President of SPREE who is currently pursuing MBA from NITIE, Mumbai, and Ms. Bhavya Putta, who is pursuing MS from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. Both the speakers were shared their experiences on pursuing higher studies and provided valuable insights.
Mr. Ganesh Kunchala shared his opinion on higher studies, especially in India, and highlighted the numerous opportunities available for electrical engineers in the country. He also provided an overview of the current market scenario, which is conducive to pursuing higher studies. Ms. Bhavya Putta shared her journey of pursuing an MS from abroad and specifically highlighted her experience of studying in Germany. She elucidated the procedure to pursue higher studies abroad and the various benefits associated with it. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A round, where the participants had the opportunity to interact with the speakers and clarify their doubts. The vote of thanks was given by the organizers, who expressed their gratitude towards the speakers for sharing their knowledge and experiences. Overall, the session was an enlightening and informative event, which provided the participants with a glimpse into the world of higher studies and the opportunities available. It was a great initiative by the organizers, and it is hoped that such events will continue to be organized in the future to guide and inspire students.

Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) organized a PROJECT EXPO for college students on March 02, 2023 as one of the main events of GYANITH’23, the annual technical fest of NIT Puducherry. The PROJECT EXPO was a great opportunity for students to showcase their innovative ideas and projects in the field of Engineering and Technology. The event was open to all students from colleges across the country. The EXPO had a total of 40 project exhibits that covered various areas such as robotics, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and environmental science. The judging panel consisted of faculties of NIT Puducherry from IIC and different departments, who reviewed the projects and provided valuable feedback to the participants. The judges appreciated the creativity and technical skills demonstrated by the students and were impressed by the quality of the projects.
The exhibits included a wide range of projects such as an autonomous drone for crop monitoring, a smart traffic management system, a machine learning-based medical diagnosis tool, a biodegradable plastic made from plant waste etc. The projects also focused on addressing important social issues such as climate change, health, and education. The winners of the Project Expo were felicitated with a memento, merit certificates, and cash prizes during the valedictory ceremony of GYANITH’23. Participation certificates were provided for all participants of the EXPO. Overall, the PROJECT EXPO was a great success, providing a platform for students to showcase their innovative ideas and encouraging them to pursue their interests in science and technology. The event was well-organized, and the participation and enthusiasm of the students were commendable. Students from Manakula Vinayaka Institute of Technology, Pondicherry, Mahal College and SNS College of Technology were the winners of the PROJECT EXPO.

Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) organized a SCIENCE EXPO for school students of Class 6 to 12 on March 01, 2023 as one of the main events of GYANITH’23, the annual technical fest of NIT Puducherry. With the support of honourable Director Dr. K Sankaranayanasamy, esteemed Registrar Dr. S. Sundaravarathan and faulty members of NITPY, students were able to exhibit their ideas. The event aimed to create awareness about science and technology among the school students and motivate them to explore various fields of science. The Science Expo was held at the NIT Puducherry campus in the V.O. Chidambaram Pillai Admin block where various students from schools in and around Karaikal and Puducherry participated and displayed their exhibits and models. The exhibition had two categories namely Working model and Posters. There were around 168 students from 15 schools participated in the EXPO with 56 working models and 6 posters.
The Expo began at 9.30 AM and was visited by students of various schools in Karaikal. The exhibits provided an opportunity for those students to explore the scientific principles behind the various technologies. Moreover, engineering students from various institutions from all over Puducherry and Tamil Nadu which had active participation in GYANITH’23 had also visited the expo and had interactions with the participants. The exhibits included a wide range of projects such as solar integrated farming rover, anti-sleep alarm for drivers, producing bio gas from human waste, voice activated toilet flush, allure of avatar, evive project etc. Students from UNIVERSAL ACADEMY, SRVS NATIONAL HR. SEC. SCHOOL, CAUVERY PUBLIC SCHOOL, GOOD LUCK, and AATHMALAYA SCHOOL were the winners of the SCIENCE Expo. In conclusion, the Science Expo provided an excellent platform for students to learn more about various fields of science and technology. The event was a resounding success and undoubtedly inspired the many young minds to pursue a career in science and engineering. The winners of the SCIENCE Expo were felicitated with a memento and merit certificates, during the valedictory ceremony of GYANITH’23. Participation certificates were provided for all participants of the Expo.

Astrokes will see participants try to put the above and beyond on paper in their own colours, while Frame of the Universe will feature a contest between the most stunning moments of the night sky captured on camera.
