HBTU Organized Orientation Program for Newly Admitted Students

Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, organized an orientation program on August 17, 2026, at the Shatabdi Bhawan on the university's West Campus to welcome the newly admitted students for the 2026-27 academic year and introduce them to the university's academic environment, various schools, and departments.

Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Samsher welcomed the newly admitted students to the university family and encouraged them to achieve excellence in their student life. He urged students to aim not only to be excellent engineers but also to be good human beings. He encouraged students to incorporate human values, discipline, responsibility, and a positive attitude into their lives, along with technical knowledge.

The program began with the lighting of a lamp. Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Vandana Dixit and Dean Student Welfare Prof. C.L. Gehlot addressed the students. The program also introduced the newly admitted students to the various schools and departments of the university.

On this occasion, Dean Student Welfare, Prof. C.L. Gehlot, announced that an induction program for newly admitted students will be held from August 18th to 27th, 2026. During this program, various inspirational lectures and activities will be organized to enhance the personality and overall well-being of the students. He informed that yoga and sports sessions will also be organized daily to promote the physical and mental health of students.

Following the orientation program, the newly admitted students were toured to their respective departments and became acquainted with the faculty and available academic facilities. This provided the students with an opportunity to understand their new academic environment and to be excited for their upcoming academic journey at the university.

The orientation program introduced the newly admitted students to HBTU's academic culture, various departments, and the opportunities available at the university, providing a platform for an enthusiastic and positive start to their university life.

🇮🇳 Celebration of the Spirit of Freedom at HBTU, Kanpur 🇮🇳

Today, we proudly celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India at Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur, with immense pride, patriotism, and enthusiasm. India celebrates Independence Day every year on 15 August to commemorate its independence in 1947.

The celebration was a beautiful reminder of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and the responsibilities we carry as young citizens of a progressive nation. The tricolour inspires us to uphold the values of unity, integrity, innovation, and service.

On this occasion, the flag hoisting was done by the honourable Vice-Chancellor, HBTU and addressed the gathering. He highlighted the achievements of the university and praised the efforts of the students. He urged the entire university family to make continuous efforts for the country's sustainable development. A run for freedom was also organized in which students, faculty and office staff participated. Winners were rewarded by Honorable Vice-Chancellor.

As students and researchers, let us contribute to the vision of a self-reliant and sustainable India through knowledge, technology, and meaningful action.

AICTE-Approved Eight-Day Faculty Development Programme on Universal Human Values Commences at HBTU Kanpur
Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur has commenced an AICTE-approved eight-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Universal Human Values (UHV) on 10th August 2026. The programme will continue till 17 August 2026 and is aimed at providing faculty members and Ph.D. scholars an opportunity for meaningful self-exploration and a deeper understanding of human values, relationships and harmony.
The inaugural ceremony was held in the Seminar Room, Department of Management Studies, HBTU Kanpur (formerly STEP-HBTI). Prof. Dipteek Parmar, Pro Vice-Chancellor, HBTU Kanpur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Prof. G. L. Devnani attended as the Guest of Honour. The programme is being conducted under the chairpersonship of Prof. Vandana Dixit Kaushik.
The programme will provide participants opportunities to engage with various dimensions of human values through interactive sessions, group discussions, reflection and experiential activities. The programme aims to develop greater clarity and harmony not only in the professional roles of teachers and research scholars but also in their personal lives and relationships.
The programme is being coordinated by Dr. Shivam Srivastava, with Dr. Kumar Gaurav and Dr. Krishna Kant Bhartiya serving as the Organizing Secretaries. The resource person team includes Mr. Bhanu Pratap, Dr. B. K. Sharma and Mr. Pankaj Kumar Yadav.
Through the programme, a meaningful effort is being made to further strengthen the spirit of trust, respect, responsibility, cooperation and harmony within the university community.

Please to share that ICAMEET 2026, the Collaborative International Conference jointly organized by UCER, Prayagraj, and the R&D Cell, HBTU Kanpur, was successfully inaugurated today at Prayagraj in the auspicious presence of eminent speakers from the UK, Greece, Ireland, IIT Delhi, Prof. m.Ravi shankar IIT Tirupati, Prof. J.Ramkumar IIT Kanpur, Prof. Mukul Shukla MNNIT, Prof. Anil Kumar DTU, Prof. Rajesh Verma HBTU, and other reputed institutions.

Prof. Rajesh Verma, Dean, R&D, HBTU Kanpur, coordinated this international conference for the past one year, contributing significantly to its successful organization.

Three-Day Workshop on CO-PO Mapping, Outcome Assessment & Automation
The Human Resource Development Cell (HRDC), Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, inaugurated a Three-Day Workshop on "CO-PO Mapping, Outcome Assessment and Automation" on Jul 22, 2026 under the guidance of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shamsher. The event will be conducted till Jul 24, 2026.
The inaugural session featured Prof. N. C. Shivaprakash, Retired Professor from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, as the distinguished expert speaker. He delivered insightful sessions on Course Outcomes (CO), Program Outcomes (PO), CO-PO Mapping, Outcome Assessment, and Automation, highlighting their practical implementation and critical role in the NBA accreditation process.
As the Chairperson and Coordinator of HRDC (Prof. Saniv Kumar), I am pleased to share that more than 57 faculty members (around 60) from various departments of HBTU enthusiastically participated in this workshop.
Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is the foundation of quality technical education. Effective CO-PO Mapping ensures that every course outcome is aligned with program outcomes, enabling scientific assessment of student learning while making the teaching-learning process more transparent, measurable, and outcome-oriented.
The workshop also emphasizes the importance of Automation in Outcome Assessment, equipping faculty members with modern tools and data-driven approaches that strengthen departments for NBA accreditation.
The successful organization of this workshop was made possible through the valuable support of Finance Controller Mr. Sahitya Kumar Katiyar, Registrar Mr. Amit Kumar Rathore, Prof. Santosh Kumar, Dr. Ashish Trivedi, and all members of the HRDC.
The workshop was formally inaugurated by the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shamsher, and participants highly appreciated the expert lectures and hands-on sessions for their practical relevance and academic value.
The workshop will continue until 24 July 2026 with several technical and practical sessions aimed at strengthening Outcome-Based Education across the university.

A Significant Step Towards Sustainable Coating Technologies! 🌱🎨

We are delighted to share that the Department of Paint Technology, Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU) Kanpur, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SS International to jointly advance research and innovation in environment-friendly paint and coating technologies.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s Total Precision, Kanpur, on 13 July 2026 to strengthen industry–academia collaboration, innovation, research, and skill development in mechanical engineering.
This partnership will create opportunities for industrial training, student internships, expert lectures, consultancy projects, collaborative research, technology exchange, and practical exposure to industrial manufacturing processes. It will also support joint initiatives in precision manufacturing, product development, automation, and innovative engineering solutions.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Samsher, HBTU Kanpur, and exchanged between Mr. Rakesh Singh, M/s Total Precision, and Prof. Vinay Pratap Singh, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering. The ceremony was also attended by Prof. Jitendra Bhaskar, Dean, Incubation Hub, along with faculty members of the department.

HBTU Kanpur proudly held its 8th Convocation on July 10, 2026 at Shatabdi Bhawan, West Campus, celebrating the achievements of 1,071 graduates across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. The ceremony was presided over by Hon’ble Governor and Chancellor Smt. Anandiben Patel, with Shri Rajendra Kumar Jalan, Chairman, FDDI and alumnus of Chemical Engineering, as Chief Guest.

The convocation reflected HBTU’s strong academic and research momentum, with 47 medals awarded to meritorious students, new academic programmes in AI/ML, Signal Processing & Machine Learning, and Forensic Science & Bio Analytics, and continued growth in sponsored projects, patents, and faculty excellence. The university also highlighted major initiatives in infrastructure, green hydrogen research, digital systems, and student welfare, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and industry-aligned education.

HBTU is organizing its 8th Convocation of HBTU Kanpur on July 10, 2026 - a landmark celebration of excellence, perseverance, and achievement. This prestigious occasion will honor 1,071 degree recipients and 47 medal awardees, recognizing outstanding academic performance and dedication to success.
The function will be presided over by Hon’ble Governor, Uttar Pradesh and Chancellor, HBTU, Smt. Anandiben Patel. Shri Rajendra Kumar Jalan, Chairman, FDDI, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and Founder of A.F.P.L. Global Pvt. Ltd., who is also an alumnus of the Chemical Engineering discipline of the university, will grace the occasion as Chief Guest. Prof. Samsher, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, HBTU Kanpur, will present the progress of the university. The ceremony will be attended by university officials, faculty members, graduating students, medal awardees, and invited guests.
The event will stand as a powerful reflection of HBTU’s growing legacy in academics, research, and innovation, along with its rising national recognition and promising future. A special highlight of the ceremony will be Mr. Pragyan Verma, who will receive both the Chancellor’s Gold Medal and the Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medal. A Pramod Chaturvedi Memorial Distinguished Student Award of Rs. 40,000, will also be conferred to Mr. Pragyan in recognition of his exemplary academic performance.
