From water filters to chessboards, from science to art... it was a week of thinking, creating and achieving at BHIS Kanpur!

Our young scientists got hands-on with water filtration, friction and air pressure, transforming concepts into experiences.

Our senior students explored the realities of the digital economy, fraud awareness, insurance and financial responsibility. And on the achievement front, Sanvi Omar of Grade 6 brought home 1st Prize at the 2nd Kanpur Rapid Chess Tournament... a proud moment for the entire BHIS family!

Looking ahead, our young artists now have an exciting opportunity to shine through ASAS India Chapter 2026, exploring “Eras of Art - A Journey Through Time.”

Every week is another opportunity to discover a talent, build a skill or make a difference.

SCIENCE TAKES FLIGHT!

Grade 4 | Hands-On Science Experiment

Our young scientists explored the fascinating concept of Friction and Air Pressure by building their very own Paper Plate Hovercraft!

THE EXPERIMENT
Students discovered how friction slows down moving objects and how a cushion of air can reduce friction, allowing objects to glide smoothly across a surface.

Using a simple paper plate hovercraft model, they observed how trapped air creates a thin cushion between the hovercraft and the surface, making it move with much less friction.

CLEAN WATER, SMART SCIENCE!

Grade 5 | Backyard Science Project

Science came alive as our Grade 5 young scientists explored the importance of clean and safe water through a fun, hands-on Water Filtration Project!

THE EXPERIMENT
Students created a simple Water Filtration System using everyday materials:

Gravel - Helps trap larger particles
Sand - Helps filter smaller impurities
Cotton - Provides an additional filtration layer

As water passed through the different layers, students observed how these materials help remove visible impurities and understood the basic working principle of a filtration system.

SPINNING INTO THE WORLD OF COLOURS!

Science came alive in our classroom as our young learners explored the fascinating Spin Spectrum!

What did we learn?
Students discovered how white light is made up of seven colours and how rainbows are formed through the combination of these colours.

Using a Spectrum Wheel Spinner, students observed an amazing colour illusion while spinning the wheel. As the colours moved rapidly, red, yellow, orange and other colours blended together, helping them understand how our eyes perceive colours and how light is composed.
