APBY in SD college, sector 32, Chandigarh
The BOSONS Club of the Postgraduate Department of Physics, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sec 32-C, Chandigarh in collaboration with IAPT RC-03, organized workshop on “Learning Physics through Experiments” as part of the ongoing Anveshika Physics Bharat Yatra 2025 on August 25, 2025.The Yatra, launched by Padma Shri Prof. H.C. Verma in Kupwara, Kashmir, on May 2, 2025, carries an electronic mashal across the country to spread the spirit of experiential learning.
As the mashal reached Chandigarh, the Department of Physics, GGDSD College took the opportunity to host this workshop.
Organising secretary, Dr. Amit Goyal welcomed the resource persons Prof. M.S. Marwaha (Former Principal, SGGS College, Chandigarh) and Dr. Sanjay Sharma (Secretary, IAPT).
Principal Dr. Ajay Sharma extended a green welcome to the resource persons and motivated the students to actively participate in such workshops.Resource persons engaged students with simple yet powerful demonstrations, showing how physics can be understood better through experiments than just theory.
Prof. M.S. Marwaha explained to the students the concepts of free, forced, and resonant vibrations; transverse and longitudinal waves; simple harmonic motion; coupled oscillators etc. through simple experimental setups.
Dr. Sanjay Sharma explained to the students the concept of conservation of momentum by demonstrating it with simple plastic bottles. Around 100 enthusiastic students actively participated in this event.
Dr. Neelu Mahajan, Head of the Department, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation for everyone’s contributions in making the workshop a success, and extended gratitude to the resource persons.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26 Chandigarh welcomes Anveksha Physics Bharat Yatra 2025
Chandigarh, August 26, 2025
Sri Guru Gobind Singh College hosted a workshop titled “Physics Experiments with Introduction of 21st Century ICT Skills in Education.” organised by the Postgraduate Department of Physics in collaboration with IAPT (Indian Association of Physics Teachers) RC-03 and the Institution Innovation Council.
The event formed a part of the prestigious Anveshika Physics Bharat Yatra 2025 launched by Padma Shri Prof HC Verma in Kupwara, Kashmir, on May 2, 2025.
On behalf of Principal Dr Jaswinder Singh, Vice Principal Prof Harbhajan Singh welcomed the Guests of Honour Dr KS Tripathi, Chairperson, Physics Department and Dr Ranjan Kumar, Professor, Physics Department, both from Panjab University Chandigarh.
Renowned resource persons Dr Sanjay Kr Sharma (Secretary, IAPT) and Mr Paramjeet Singh, Lecturer in Physics at GMSS School, Sector 8B, Chandigarh, conducted engaging sessions filled with simple yet powerful demonstrations. Dr. Sharma explained the principle of conservation of momentum through a practical experiment using plastic bottles, while Mr. Singh introduced students to 21st Century ICT Skills in Education.
More than 100 students and faculty members participated enthusiastically, gaining hands-on experience through interactive demonstrations. In his vote of thanks, Dr Ranbir Singh, Head of the Postgraduate Department of Physics, said the workshop aimed to inspire students to explore physics while fostering experiential learning and digital literacy.

🌟 When Science Meets Dreams in Baraut… 🌟
On 21 August 2025 ,the Anveshika Physics Bharat Yatra reached Ch. Kehar Singh Divya Public School, Baraut. More than 300 young hearts from Classes 7–12 sat together, curious, wide-eyed, and ready to ask the biggest question: “Can I really become a scientist?” 🤔✨
And the answer came loud and clear from Dr. Shyam Kishore: Yes, you can. Science is not for someone far away—it is for YOU. 🌍💡
He shared the journey in simple steps: stay curious, make small experiments, find mentors, and aim for India’s top institutes—IISc, IITs, IISERs, ISRO, DRDO, CSIR labs. But the magic moment came when he spoke of a daughter of Baraut, Kalpna Jain. 🌸
Once just like these students, she dared to dream bigger. With guidance from Dr. Shyam Kishore and Dr. K. S. Singh (D. J. College, Baraut), she went on to publish her research in an international journal (Royal Society of Chemistry, PCCP). 🌏📖
Her research explored how tiny particles—dyes and quantum dots—exchange energy, work that powers the future of solar cells and clean energy. ⚡☀️ Imagine: a young girl from Baraut contributing to the science that can change the world! 💫👩🔬 Dr. Shyam Kishore’s research focuses on physical chemistry, energy materials, and quantum modeling, while Dr. K. S. Singh has led impactful projects in Physics at D. J. College. Together, their mentoring created a platform for young researchers like Kalpna Jain to shine.
For the students listening, this wasn’t just a lecture. It was a mirror. A proof. A promise. That their roots do not limit their wings. 🕊️
💬 Dr. Kishore reminded them:
✨ Ask “Why?” every day.
✨ Build one project every year.
✨ Seek mentors and never give up.
✨ Believe—because if Kalpna could, so can YOU.
Today, the Bharat Yatra didn’t just teach physics. It planted dreams. It lit a fire. 🔥 And maybe, sitting in that hall, the next scientist India needs was born. 🇮🇳👩🔬👨🔬
