Change in the eligibility criteria for Means Scholarships !!

Hello people,
This is to inform you that the following clause of the SSPC (Senate Scholarship and Prizes Committee) manual which states:

“Any student who has received any punishment or disciplinary action by Senate/SSAC will not be eligible to receive an award/scholarship. Such student should be screened out beforehand and must not be presented to the committee for the consideration."

has been changed to:

"Any student who has received any punishment or disciplinary action by senate/ SSAC will not be eligible to receive any award/ scholarship (other than ones due to means). Such students should be screened out beforehand
and must not be presented to the committee for any consideration."

So, we request you to inform this to your friends and batch mates who earlier were not considered for the Means scholarship because of the clause to kindly nominate themselves in the next call.

Call For Nominations - Gymkhana Review Committee | PSG Office 21/08/2018

The Students' Gymkhana has been going through an exciting phase consisting of several challenges accompanied by rapid changes in our structure and function. In order to address these challenges, we need a comprehensive re-evaluation of the way in which the Gymkhana functions. To ensure the same, a Gymkhana Review Committee (GRC) had been constituted in 2012-13 and 2016-17, which had made several recommendations to the Students' Senate. Though in order to make the decisions more robust, and to extend the several rounds of recommendations that were provided by the previous committee(s); it is now restructured to cover a broader spectrum.

Broadly, the new GRC committee will be working on various aspects of the Gymkhana, including, but not limited to:

- Students' Senate
- Cells
- Alumni Relations
- Bridging the Gap between Gymkhana and PGs
- Academic Help via the Gymkhana
- Finances and Sponsorship in Gymkhana
- Festivals
- Councils

The Gymkhana Review Committee (GRC) shall be a 5 membered committee which shall act as a managing committee to several sub-committees dealing with the above-mentioned aspects. The mandate of this GRC would be to review all the pertinent issues of the Gymkhana in the mentioned domain. Considering that the review is going to be more-over broad, we invite participation from students who would like to share their insights in any of the mentioned domains.

Students interested to join these committees may apply in the following form:
https://goo.gl/forms/rEjACIh8WMM7Ae6Z2
[Deadline 22nd August 1pm]

A detailed proposal for the Gymkhana Review Committee is mentioned in this link:

We hope interested students join us in this process towards making our system more robust and effective.

Regarding Sponsorship in Students' Gymkhana
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear everyone,
This was to inform all the councils and cells. The policy for External Sponsorship to Gymkhana which was discussed 2 years ago in an executive committee formed by the Insitute Advisory Committee, has now been implemented. For the procurement of the sponsorship, the Chief Marketing Officer Gourav Patidar shall be posting a draft Gymkhana MoU on this group, following which all clubs/hobby_groups/cells can approach organizations for sponsorship.

Minutes of the Inter IIT Students' Council Summit 2017 24/02/2018

Hello friends,

Something interesting here!! 😃
This is regarding the Inter IIT Students' Council Summit 2018.
As some of you might be aware that the Inter IIT Students' Council is a body aimed at promoting cooperation among the IIT community by facilitating discussion among student representatives of all IITs and acting as a voice of the entire student fraternity of IITs to various bodies like the MHRD and the IIT Council.
Last year, IIT Kanpur took the initiative to host 11 IITs for the summit. The draft minutes of the meeting can be found here:
https://goo.gl/fHh5MP

The next Inter IIT Students' Council Summit is going to be held in IIT Roorkee from 2nd - 4th March 2018 where two students from IIT Kanpur (nominated by the Students' Senate) will be representing us.

As there are tremendous possibilities that can emerge out of such a body, inputs are being invited from the student community for the same. If you have any idea or proposal that you want us to take up in the summit, let us know, either by sending a mail at [email protected] or by filling up this form: https://goo.gl/forms/dBhUStOUn7ntL6Kx2

You can also comment here your ideas or discuss with any of your batch senators..

Please try to send in your ideas by 26th February so that we can compile them into proper proposals. Looking forward to an enthusiatic response from all of you guys 😃

Hey guys,
We hope you are enjoying your vacations!!!
The bittersweet first year is over and it's time to reflect back. There were a number of things which went overboard but at the same time we had our Batch bringing laurels for the institution.
What's important now is to make our beloved IIT Kanpur a better place for the future batches to come by contributing our two cents.
Okay so this POST IS OPEN FOR DISCUSSION. Comment your ideas, opinions, queries and critical views in terms of orientation, academics or anything you feel like is important like I had a number of great ideas during my campaigning from you guys. It would be great if you can bring about better ideas by comparing us with our sister IITs.
In the end, it's our institution and to make it a better place is definitely our responsibility.
Read. Comment. Discuss.
Kudos!!!
