Dr. Neelakshi, Ph. D., Domain Head, CleanTech/GreenTech, SIIC, IIT Kanpur, participated as a Distinguished Panelist at Dharti Sammaan: India Green Growth Mission Leadership Conclave 2026, held on 24th August at UNESCO House, New Delhi.

Organised by Net Green Foundation, supported by the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, RD & GR, Govt. of India ) and UPSIDA_Official, with Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur (incubatoriitk) as the Knowledge Partner.

Two CleanTech Domain SIIC incubated startups also represented their motivation towards sustainability, HR CircularTech A Brand of Harinarayan Recyclers Pvt. Ltd., presenting its chemical recycling technology that converts waste PET bottles into high grade rPET, and SuEng-Tech (Sustainable Engineering through Technology)., showcasing climate tech solutions for energy efficiency and decarbonisation.

The conclave brought together policymakers, industry leaders, innovators, and academia for a national dialogue on scaling sustainable solutions from circular economy and waste management to climate-tech and sustainable energy.

Outreach like this does more than showcase innovation it puts SIIC's CleanTech and GreenTech startups directly in front of the policymakers and institutions who can help scale their technologies widely, while reinforcing SIIC's role as a technology contributor to India's Green Growth Mission.

Session 3, held on 20th August, focused on Problem Validation & Customer Discovery, led by Mr. Chand Das, Business & Leadership Coach, Startup Mentor, and Angel Investor.

He pushed startups beyond the "we have a great product" mindset - the kind of hard question a mentor asks that a founder, deep in building, often misses: who is the customer really, what do they value, and how does the product actually reach them?

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where founders got practical, experience-backed answers to the questions they'd been sitting with.

JIGYASA at IIT KANPUR โ€” A Successful First Step Towards Igniting Young Minds!

The Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur, hosted Jigyasa โ€” a 2-day entrepreneurship and innovation outreach programme on 20โ€“21 August 2026 โ€” welcoming young, curious minds from:

โ€ข Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Cantt
โ€ข Allen House Public School, Rooma
โ€ข Bishop Westcott School, Civil Lines
โ€ข United Public School

How the two days unfolded:
โžœ Day one opened with warmth โ€” a Welcome Address by Dr. Neelakshi, followed by a career talk from Dr. Amrita De Adhikari that got young minds thinking beyond the usual paths
โžœ Curiosity took over as Dr. Dhanbal Kumarasamy pulled back the curtain on the world of startups
โžœ Feet on the tarmac โ€” students walked the Flight Laboratory and Air Strip, seeing aerospace tech up close
โžœ A founder's story came alive as Dream Aerospace shared the journey from a raw idea to a real company
โžœ Hands went from notebooks to machines in a 3D Printing session led by Dr. Sushil Patel, Manager, Defence & Aerospace, SIIC
โžœ A window into healthcare's future opened during the MedTech Facility tour with Dr. Sandeep Shandilya, Assistant Manager, CoE (DST) - MedTech, SIIC
โžœ And it all wrapped up the way great field trips should โ€” one last walkthrough of the labs, followed by certificates, smiles, and a group photo to remember it by.

Textbooks gave way to real labs, real startups, and real conversations with innovators โ€” leaving students with a broader view of careers in aerospace, manufacturing, healthcare technology, and entrepreneurship. For many, this was a string of firsts โ€” a research facility, a wind tunnel, a startup ecosystem โ€” the kind that quietly plant a seed of curiosity meant to grow long after the certificates are put away.

Showcasing innovation at UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026.

The UPโ€“Japan Investment Meet 2026, held on 21st August at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow, under the chairmanship of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji, offered a rare, high-stakes platform to showcase India's growing deep-tech and innovation ecosystem to global investors.

Dr. Deepti Chugh, Domain Head โ€“ MedTech/BioTech, and Dr. Amrita De Adhikari, Domain Head โ€“ IoT/5G-6G, represented Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur (incubatoriitk) at the exhibition.

Seven SIIC-incubated startups โ€” Maraal Aerospace Private Limited, Ananant Systems Private Limited, RF Nanocomposites Pvt. Ltd., Veer Connects India Pvt. Ltd. , Genomiki Solutions, Brahmion SpaceTech pvt. ltd., and H2Power Energy (P) Ltd. โ€” showcased their technologies at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur stall, spanning Defence & Aerospace, MedTech, IoT, Semiconductors, and Advanced Technologies.

With Japanese investors and industry leaders in the room, this was more than an exhibition โ€” it was a direct line to global capital, cross-border partnerships, and market access most startups spend years trying to reach.

SIIC, IIT Kanpur is keen and always giving a platform to their incubated startups to showcase where it matters โ€” creating global exposure and opening doors that take their innovations far beyond the campus.

A defining step towards strengthening indigenous defence innovation.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and the Indian Air Force have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to bring together the IAFโ€™s operational expertise, IIT Kanpurโ€™s research capabilities and Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur (incubatoriitk)โ€“FIRSTโ€™s deep-tech startup ecosystem.

The MoU will facilitate:
* Research and development aligned with IAF requirements
* Integration of live IAF problem statements into academic projects
* Exposure of IIT Kanpur students and faculty to technologies at IAF establishments
* Development of niche technologies for operational use cases
* Participation in Make in India, iDEX and TDF challenges
* Engagement of SIICโ€“FIRST-incubated startups in joint product development

The MoU was signed on 20 August 2026 at Vayu Bhawan, New Delhi, in the presence of Prof. Deepu Philip, Professor-in-Charge, SIIC IIT Kanpur; Air Marshal Philip Thomas AVSM VM Professor of Practice & Exec. Advisor at IIT Kanpur; Dr. Ashutosh Agnihotri, CEO, FIRSTโ€“SIIC IIT Kanpur; and Dr. Sarvesh Sonkar, Domain Head, Defence and Aerospace, SIIC IIT Kanpur.

The most complex challenges in air power cannot be addressed in isolation. This partnership will create a structured pathway to translate critical operational requirements into deployable indigenous defence solutions.

It was a privilege to have an insightful and enriching engagement with Shri Satyendra Kumar, IAS, District Magistrate, Varanasi, to discuss how Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur can contribute to addressing real, on-ground governance and development challenges in the district.

The interaction was held under Operation Dronagiri, a national initiative of the Department of Science and Technologyโ€™s (India-DST), under which SIIC IIT Kanpur has been designated as a Geospatial Innovation Accelerator (GIA).

Representing SIIC IIT Kanpur were Mr. Piyush Mishra, CFO & COO, and Dr. Gopal Krishna Dixit, Domain Head โ€“ AI/ML, along with representatives from TerrAqua UAV Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and ScaNxt.

Two SIIC-incubated agritech startups have already been selected as Growth-Stage Startups for deployment under the initiative:

๐Ÿ”น๐’๐œ๐š๐๐ฑ๐ญ โ€“ Leveraging GIS-based farmer mapping, precision UAV spraying, indigenous UAV technology, and SMS-based advisories to enable data-driven agricultural practices.

The discussion also explored the potential of other SIIC-incubated startups to address district-specific requirements. Shri Satyendra Kumar expressed particular interest in the solutions offered by:
