Gnanodaya Rehabilitation Association

Gnanodaya School is located in Venkatapuram Village, at Singaperumalkoil in Kancheepuram District, about 45 km from Chennai. It's managed by Gnanodaya Rehabilitation Association, a trust registered under The Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act.1975 with Registration No. 380 of 2009 dt. 22.07.2009 . The school has a strength of 152 children from different leprosy colonies of Tamil Nadu and from underprivileged families of nearby villages. At present, the school provides education till 10th standard. We are proud to say that every year in SSLC Board examination our children achieved hundred percent results.

The School was started by DIK (a German association for children’s education) under St. John’s Association. Impressed by the work done by the colony of the leprosy affected people in Saidapet, St. John’s Association purchased land in Venkatapuram village and put up a school building with hostel and playground facilities. They also purchased agricultural land in order to make the school self-sustainable. However, in 2009 DIK, Germany & ASHA foundation, USA was unable to support the school. The school was then brought under a newly formed society called the Gnanodaya Rehabilitation Association. Now the school is being run by adhoc contributions from a few interested local donors. Even with the donations of these gracious benefactors there is an acute shortage of funds to run the school. We are in need to raise sufficient funds to keep the school and hostel operational, without which 152 passionate students will be forced to drop out of school and go back to their villages. We need your support:
