Annual Lecture on Poet Nilmani Phookan Held at L.C.B. College
Lalit Chandra Bharali College organised it's 3rd Annual Lecture on eminent Assamese poet Nilmani Phookan on 22 September 2026 at the Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Conference Hall of the college. The program jointly organised by the Cluster of Language Departments jointly with the Literary and Poetry Club of College. The event featured an insightful lecture by Dr. Pranjal Sarma Basistha, Associate Professor, Department of Assamese, Gauhati University, on the poet’s life, poetry and literary legacy. Writer and social activist Mr. Ankur Deka also graced the occasion. The Principal, faculty members, students and literary enthusiasts actively participated in the programme.
A major highlight was the inauguration of the edited volume ‘Literature, Culture and Society’ edited by Dr. Kakalee Das (Chief Editor), Dr. Priti Das and Dr. Shibashish Purkayastha (Editors). The volume brought together scholarly contributions from national and international authors, exploring diverse facets of literature, culture and society. The programme concluded with an engaging interaction between the speaker, faculty and students, celebrating Phookan’s enduring literary contribution.
