'Purna Swaraj' resolution was adopted in the 1929 Lahore session of the Indian National Congress.
After years of struggle, the Indians forced the Britishers to give up their hold of the country and no longer under British imperialist rule.
On 15 August 1947, the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru raised the Indian National Flag above the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi.
The Indian Independence Day also marked as the second anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War 2.
