The Book of Proverbs
Proverbs 15
God cares deeply about the words we use and the posture of our hearts. He delights in the prayer of the upright but is far from the one who clings to wickedness. Again and again, Proverbs 15 reminds us that gentleness, patience, and humility aren’t signs of weakness; they are signs of strength and wisdom.
This chapter also lifts our eyes to a bigger picture. Wealth without love isn’t worth much. Big sacrifices without a sincere heart don’t impress God. Instead, the Lord values peace over performance, prayer over pretense, and humility over pride.
When we live out Proverbs 15, soft words, listening hearts, patient tempers, humble spirits, we become channels of God’s life and blessing to those around us.
Remind ourselves, that we should use soft, gentle words to calm tense situations. Be intentional about seeking knowledge and wisdom rather than gossip or negativity.
Prayer:
“Father in Heaven…Thank You for the wisdom You give through Your Word. Teach me to guard my tongue so that my words soothe, heal, and encourage rather than wound or inflame. Help me to respond with gentleness, especially in moments of tension, and to be patient rather than quick-tempered.
Lord, give me a heart that values prayer over performance and peace over pride. Remind me that it’s better to have little with Your presence and love than to have riches with strife. Keep me humble so I can receive correction, grow in wisdom, and stay close to You.
Guide my steps so that my plans succeed because they’re grounded in Your counsel and surrounded by wise input. Fill me with Your Spirit so my life reflects kindness, humility, and the fear of the Lord.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
