What if your biggest dream was simply to sit in a classroom?
For Droupadi Murmu, born in a small Santhal village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, even primary education once felt out of reach.
“I come from a poor tribal village in Odisha, where getting even basic education was a dream. But I remained steadfast and became the first person in my village to go to college,” she shared with the media, as reported by Hindustan Times.
She earned her degree from Ramadevi Women’s College in Bhubaneswar, became a junior assistant in Odisha’s irrigation department, taught at a local school — and quietly kept breaking barriers.
Years later, she made history as India’s first tribal President, and only the second woman to hold the country’s highest constitutional office.

Swapna Augustine, a native of Paingottoor in Kerala's Ernakulam district, was born without both arms. However, she refused to let this physical challenge define her capabilities. From a young age, she cultivated the extraordinary ability to perform all daily tasks, including drawing and painting, using her feet and toes.
Swapna's talent for art was evident during her school years. With consistent support and motivation from her parents and teachers, she pursued her passion, learning to expertly hold a pencil and paintbrush between her toes. The training was physically demanding, often causing her toes to hurt from the exertion, but her perseverance never wavered. Her hard work paid off, and she later completed her graduation in History.
Her artwork, which frequently features beautiful flowers, birds, nature scenes, and cultural themes, has since achieved international acclaim. Since 1999, she has been a proud member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (MFPA), headquartered in Switzerland, which supports artists who create without the use of their hands. Swapna has successfully exhibited her work and has been honored with awards, including the 'Icon of the Year 2018' by the World Malayali Foundation. She views her art as a gift and her disability as a path God planned for her, inspiring millions with her indomitable spirit.
