A Meaningful Engagement with the Hon’ble Chief Minister

A delegation from the Principal Council of Colleges, including Dr. Dulen Saikia, Principal, Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya, had the privilege of meeting the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam.

On behalf of the Principal Council, the delegation handed over a Demand Draft of ₹5.00 lakh towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, as a humble contribution towards supporting relief and humanitarian initiatives.

The delegation also submitted a memorandum highlighting several key issues concerning the higher education sector, seeking the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s urgent intervention.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister gave the delegation a patient and attentive hearing and assured positive consideration and appropriate action on the issues raised in the memorandum.

We sincerely appreciate the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s valuable time, patient hearing, and assurance. We remain hopeful that his intervention will lead to meaningful and positive outcomes for the higher education community of Assam.

যোৱা ১৬আগষ্ট, ২০২৬ তাৰিখে যোৰহাট কেন্দ্ৰীয় মহাবিদ্যালয়ৰ অধ্যক্ষ ডঃ দুলেন শইকীয়া ছাৰৰ নেতৃত্বত শিক্ষক আৰু ছাত্ৰ-ছাত্ৰীৰ এটি ৮জনীয়া গোটে শিৱসাগৰ জিলাৰ নাজিৰা 'হোলোং কাটনি' অঞ্চলৰ ২৬ টা পৰিয়ালক প্ৰতিটোকে ১৫০০/ টকাকৈ মুঠ ৩৯০০০/ নগদ ধন বিতৰণ কৰা হয়।গৰু-ছাগলী, সা- সম্পদ সকলো হেৰোৱা,চৰকাৰী চাকৰি নথকা,এঘৰৰ মানুহ মৃত্যুমুখত পৰা- পৰিয়াল কেইটা গাঁৱৰ যুৱক সংঘৰ সহযোগত বাচনি কৰি দিয়ে নাজিৰা মহাবিদ্যালয়ৰ অধ্যাপক ৰাজীৱ বৰাই। বান পানী হৈ যোৱাৰ প্ৰায় ১ মাহৰ পাছতো অৱস্থা বৰ দুখজনক ; প্ৰতি ঘৰৰ পদূলিতথকা কাপোৰ আৰু ধ্বংসাৱশেষৰ দ'ম বোৰত মৰিশালিৰ নিস্তব্ধতা এতিয়াও বিৰাজমান।
শেষত নাজিৰা মহাবিদ্যালয়ৰ অৱস্থা দেখি অধ্যক্ষ মহোদয়ৰ লগতে আমিও ব্যথিত হৈ পৰোঁ।

The Department of History, in collaboration with the Heritage Club of Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya (Autonomous), organised the online programme on 14 August 2026 to mark Independence Day and Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.
A special highlight of the programme was the participation of Sri Khageswar Gogoi, a centenarian freedom fighter from Jorhat, whose presence made the occasion deeply meaningful. The Head of the Department, Minakshi Borah, spoke about the lesser-known stories of India’s freedom struggle and Partition and encouraged students to understand history from different perspectives. Students Aayushi Neog and Samir Jaiswal shared their thoughts on Independence and Partition, while Imon Das, Assistant Professor, recommended Train to Pakistan and Mrityunjaya for further reading.
The students expressed their respect and gratitude by honouring Sri Khageswar Gogoi during the online meeting. His presence reminded everyone of the living connection between the present generation and India’s freedom struggle. The programme concluded with the remarks of Karabi Baruah, Assistant Professor, followed by the singing of “Vande Mataram.”

With immense pride and patriotic fervour, Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on 15th August 2026.
Under the leadership of our respected Principal, Dr. Dulen Saikia, the college community came together to honour the spirit of freedom, unity and nationhood. The Tricolour was proudly unfurled, followed by a solemn salute and vibrant participation by our students, NCC cadets, faculty members and staff.
The celebration was not merely a commemoration of our freedom, but also a reminder of our collective responsibility towards building a stronger, inclusive and progressive India.
🇮🇳 Let the Tricolour inspire us to serve the nation with integrity, courage and dedication.

Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya is delighted to congratulate Principal Dr Dulen. Saikia on his prestigious appointment as a Research Fellow at the University of South Africa (UNISA), Centre for Materials Science, College of Science, Engineering and Technology, for a three-year term from September 2026 to August 2029.

This distinguished appointment is a proud moment for Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya and a wonderful recognition of Principal dr Dulen Saikia’s academic excellence, research commitment, and contribution to higher education.
