Kendriya Vidyalaya AFS, Jorhat Education in Kendriya Vidyalayas is focused not only in the academic activities but also for the overall development of the child.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Air Force Station, established in 1966 is one among the oldest and the biggest Vidyalayas in the North East region has been a trendsetter and a prestigious institution catering the needs of education as per the policy of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The emphasis goes to the physical and intellectual growth making the child to develop into an integrated personality able to survi

ve in the modern world by giving quality education. The idea of encouraging the growth of Secondary Schools with a common syllabus and medium of instruction for the benefit of the children of Central Government employees, including defence personnel liable to frequent transfers was first approved in November, 1962, by the Government of India. Consequently, Central Schools Organisation was started as a unit of the Ministry of Education, now Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Govt. of India, so that the education of their children was not disrupted due to their frequent and sudden transfers in public interest. Initially, 20 Regimental Schools, then functioning at places having large concentration of defence personnel, were taken over as Central Schools during the academic year 1963-64.

Over thepast 8 months Anurup and Sagarika Bhattacharya from Kolkata living in Norway are facing incredible turmoil as their children - a three-year-old son, avigyan and one-year-old daughter, aishwarya - were taken away from them by Norway's child protective services and placed in foster care.
