To commemorate the 80th Independence Day of India, the National Service Scheme (NSS), Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), Chisopani, organised a vibrant Tirangaa Rally as part of the nationwide “Har Ghar Tiranga” Campaign.

The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and staff, who came together to spread the message of patriotism, national unity and pride in the Tricolour. The event reflected the spirit of “Har Ghar Tiranga” and encouraged everyone to honour the national flag and celebrate the values of freedom and unity.

The rally was conducted under the guidance and leadership of Prof. (Dr.) B.B. Pradhan, Principal-cum-Director, SIST, whose support and encouragement contributed to the successful organisation of the event.

The Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), Chisopani, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with patriotic spirit and enthusiasm on 15 August 2026, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) B.B. Pradhan, Principal-cum-Director, SIST.

The celebration commenced with a March Past followed by the National Anthem, setting a solemn and patriotic tone for the occasion.

The programme featured inspiring student performances, including a speech by Ansh Singh, a patriotic song by Sorip Lepcha, and a poem recitation by Harsh Kumar Karan.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Ajay Rai, Deputy Director-cum-ADM, SIST, addressed the gathering and shared his thoughts on the significance of Independence Day and the responsibilities of the younger generation towards the nation.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Parita Basnet (Faculty Associate), marking the end of a meaningful celebration dedicated to the spirit of freedom, unity and patriotism.

The Sikkim Institute of Science & Technology (SIST), Chisopani, successfully concluded its two-week Students' Induction Program (SIP) 2026 with a grand Valedictory Function, marking the culmination of an enriching journey that welcomed and oriented newly admitted students to academic life, institutional values, and holistic development.
The occasion was graced by Shri S. K. Mishra, Head of Project-cum-General Manager, NHPC Ltd., Hingdam, South Sikkim, as the Chief Guest. The institute was also honoured by the presence of the Special Guests:
• Dr. Chandra Kant Pandey, Head of Medical Division-cum-Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Rangit Power Station, NHPC Ltd.
• Mr. Pandu Gagrai, Head of Human Resource Division, Rangit Power Station, NHPC Ltd.
The programme commenced with the traditional welcome of the dignitaries, followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting, vibrant cultural performances by students, and an address by Prof. (Dr.) B. B. Pradhan, Principal-cum-Director, who encouraged students to pursue academic excellence, uphold ethical values, and contribute meaningfully to society.
In his keynote address, Shri S. K. Mishra inspired the students to cultivate discipline, perseverance, professional integrity, and a spirit of lifelong learning while embracing innovation and emerging opportunities.

The day commenced with Yoga & Meditation, followed by Universal Human Values (UHV-I) by Ms. Dibya Pradhan and an insightful Universal Human Values (UHV) session by Dr. K. H. Bhutia, emphasizing ethics, integrity, and responsible citizenship. Students also attended an informative awareness session by Senior Advocate Kumar Sharma, District & Sessions Court, Namchi, on POCSO, Anti-Ragging, POSH, and Drug Abuse, where he highlighted the legal framework, students' rights and responsibilities, and the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful, and drug-free campus environment.

The afternoon featured a vibrant Talent Showcase, where first-year students enthusiastically displayed their talents through singing, dancing, music, poetry, and other creative performances. The day commenced with Yoga & Meditation, followed by Universal Human Values (UHV-I) by Dr. Prerna Sharma, encouraging students to uphold ethical values and responsible citizenship. Students then attended an engaging Mathematics session by Mr. Abhikeskar Sharma, which was followed by a Mental Health Awareness session delivered by Ms. Divya Rai, Clinical Psychologist, District Hospital, Namchi. Her insightful talk emphasized the importance of mental well-being, stress management, emotional resilience, and maintaining a healthy balance between academic and personal life.

In the afternoon, Mr. Asish Shakya conducted an interactive session on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, introducing students to emerging technologies and their real-world applications. The day commenced with a rejuvenating Yoga & Meditation session, followed by Universal Human Values (UHV-I) conducted by Mr. Salil Sharma. Students were then briefed on various Scholarship Opportunities by Ms. Pemila Bhutia, equipping them with valuable information on academic support and financial assistance.

The afternoon session began with an informative address by Shri Ajai Rai, Deputy Director (ADM), SIST, who welcomed the students and encouraged them to make the most of their academic journey while upholding the values and traditions of the institution.

This was followed by an engaging Seed Cell Awareness Session, highlighting entrepreneurship, innovation, and the opportunities available through various Government initiatives. The session featured insightful talks by distinguished resource persons:
