To commemorate the 80th Independence Day of India, the National Service Scheme (NSS), Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), Chisopani, organised a vibrant Tirangaa Rally as part of the nationwide “Har Ghar Tiranga” Campaign.

The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and staff, who came together to spread the message of patriotism, national unity and pride in the Tricolour. The event reflected the spirit of “Har Ghar Tiranga” and encouraged everyone to honour the national flag and celebrate the values of freedom and unity.

The rally was conducted under the guidance and leadership of Prof. (Dr.) B.B. Pradhan, Principal-cum-Director, SIST, whose support and encouragement contributed to the successful organisation of the event.

The Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), Chisopani, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with patriotic spirit and enthusiasm on 15 August 2026, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) B.B. Pradhan, Principal-cum-Director, SIST.

The celebration commenced with a March Past followed by the National Anthem, setting a solemn and patriotic tone for the occasion.

The programme featured inspiring student performances, including a speech by Ansh Singh, a patriotic song by Sorip Lepcha, and a poem recitation by Harsh Kumar Karan.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Ajay Rai, Deputy Director-cum-ADM, SIST, addressed the gathering and shared his thoughts on the significance of Independence Day and the responsibilities of the younger generation towards the nation.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Parita Basnet (Faculty Associate), marking the end of a meaningful celebration dedicated to the spirit of freedom, unity and patriotism.

The Fine Arts Club of Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology (SIST) celebrated World Calligraphy Day with a creative and engaging event that brought students together to appreciate the beauty of handwritten art. The celebration highlighted calligraphy as a form of artistic expression and provided students with an opportunity to explore their creativity, patience, and attention to detail.

The event encouraged students to showcase their creative abilities while developing a deeper appreciation for the timeless art of calligraphy. It was a meaningful celebration that added to the vibrant artistic and cultural activities of the student community at SIST.

A Poster Presentation was held at Jorethang as part of the International Youth Day Celebration, organized by the Sikkim State AIDS Control Society.

The event provided a platform for students and young participants to express their ideas and perspectives through creative and informative poster presentations, highlighting the importance of youth participation in creating awareness on relevant social and public health issues.

The Sikkim Institute of Science & Technology (SIST), Chisopani, successfully concluded its two-week Students' Induction Program (SIP) 2026 with a grand Valedictory Function, marking the culmination of an enriching journey that welcomed and oriented newly admitted students to academic life, institutional values, and holistic development.
The occasion was graced by Shri S. K. Mishra, Head of Project-cum-General Manager, NHPC Ltd., Hingdam, South Sikkim, as the Chief Guest. The institute was also honoured by the presence of the Special Guests:
• Dr. Chandra Kant Pandey, Head of Medical Division-cum-Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Rangit Power Station, NHPC Ltd.
• Mr. Pandu Gagrai, Head of Human Resource Division, Rangit Power Station, NHPC Ltd.
The programme commenced with the traditional welcome of the dignitaries, followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting, vibrant cultural performances by students, and an address by Prof. (Dr.) B. B. Pradhan, Principal-cum-Director, who encouraged students to pursue academic excellence, uphold ethical values, and contribute meaningfully to society.
In his keynote address, Shri S. K. Mishra inspired the students to cultivate discipline, perseverance, professional integrity, and a spirit of lifelong learning while embracing innovation and emerging opportunities.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the distribution of certificates and awards to students in recognition of their enthusiastic participation and outstanding performances in various literary, cultural, sporting, and co-curricular activities conducted throughout the induction programme. The event celebrated not only academic orientation but also the diverse talents, creativity, and teamwork displayed by the first-year students during the two-week programme.
Conducted under the aegis of Sikkim Institute of Science & Technology, the valedictory ceremony marked the successful conclusion of SIP 2026, reaffirming the institute's commitment to nurturing competent, socially responsible, and future-ready engineers.

The eighth day of the Students' Induction Program (SIP) 2026 at Sikkim Institute of Science & Technology (SIST) was successfully conducted with sessions aimed at fostering ethical values, academic awareness, and active student participation.

The day commenced with Yoga & Meditation, followed by Universal Human Values (UHV-I) by Ms. U. K. Sherpa, who emphasized the importance of integrity, mutual respect, and responsible citizenship in students' personal and professional lives. Students also attended an informative session by Ms. Kunchok C. Bhutia, Librarian, who introduced the institute's library facilities, resources, and services, encouraging students to develop effective reading habits and make optimum use of the library throughout their academic journey.

The afternoon was dedicated to the Club Registration Drive, where newly admitted students enrolled in various academic, technical, cultural, literary, and sports clubs. The activity encouraged students to explore their interests, showcase their talents, and actively engage in extracurricular initiatives that contribute to their overall personality development.

The seventh day of the Students' Induction Program (SIP) 2026 at Sikkim Institute of Science & Technology (SIST) was successfully conducted with sessions focused on ethical values, legal awareness, and personality development.

The day commenced with Yoga & Meditation, followed by Universal Human Values (UHV-I) by Ms. Dibya Pradhan and an insightful Universal Human Values (UHV) session by Dr. K. H. Bhutia, emphasizing ethics, integrity, and responsible citizenship. Students also attended an informative awareness session by Senior Advocate Kumar Sharma, District & Sessions Court, Namchi, on POCSO, Anti-Ragging, POSH, and Drug Abuse, where he highlighted the legal framework, students' rights and responsibilities, and the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful, and drug-free campus environment.

The afternoon featured a vibrant Talent Showcase, where first-year students enthusiastically displayed their talents through singing, dancing, music, poetry, and other creative performances. The event provided a wonderful platform for students to express themselves, build confidence, and strengthen friendships, adding excitement and joy to the induction programme.

The sixth day of the Students' Induction Program (SIP) 2026 at Sikkim Institute of Science & Technology (SIST) was successfully conducted with a series of informative and interactive sessions aimed at promoting academic excellence, technological awareness, and student well-being.

The day commenced with Yoga & Meditation, followed by Universal Human Values (UHV-I) by Dr. Prerna Sharma, encouraging students to uphold ethical values and responsible citizenship. Students then attended an engaging Mathematics session by Mr. Abhikeskar Sharma, which was followed by a Mental Health Awareness session delivered by Ms. Divya Rai, Clinical Psychologist, District Hospital, Namchi. Her insightful talk emphasized the importance of mental well-being, stress management, emotional resilience, and maintaining a healthy balance between academic and personal life.

In the afternoon, Mr. Asish Shakya conducted an interactive session on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, introducing students to emerging technologies and their real-world applications. The day's programme concluded with a Student Affairs & First Year Orientation session by Ms. T. Y. Ladakhi, where students were familiarized with campus facilities, student support services, academic regulations, and various co-curricular opportunities available at the institute.

The fifth day of the Students' Induction Program (SIP) 2026 at Sikkim Institute of Science & Technology (SIST) was successfully conducted with a perfect blend of academic learning and recreational engagement, fostering the holistic development of the newly admitted students.

The day commenced with Yoga & Meditation, followed by Universal Human Values (UHV-I) by Dr. C. P. Khatiwara and an insightful session on Research & Development by Dr. Parita Basnet, encouraging students to explore innovation and research opportunities throughout their academic journey.

In the afternoon, the scheduled session was replaced with a friendly volleyball match for the first-year students. The activity provided an excellent platform for students to interact, build friendships, promote teamwork, and enjoy a healthy sporting experience, adding energy and enthusiasm to the induction programme.

The third day of the Students' Induction Program (SIP) 2026 at Sikkim Institute of Science & Technology (SIST) was successfully conducted with a series of enriching sessions aimed at fostering academic excellence, ethical values, and entrepreneurial thinking among the newly admitted students.

The day commenced with a rejuvenating Yoga & Meditation session, followed by Universal Human Values (UHV-I) conducted by Mr. Salil Sharma. Students were then briefed on various Scholarship Opportunities by Ms. Pemila Bhutia, equipping them with valuable information on academic support and financial assistance.

The afternoon session began with an informative address by Shri Ajai Rai, Deputy Director (ADM), SIST, who welcomed the students and encouraged them to make the most of their academic journey while upholding the values and traditions of the institution.

This was followed by an engaging Seed Cell Awareness Session, highlighting entrepreneurship, innovation, and the opportunities available through various Government initiatives. The session featured insightful talks by distinguished resource persons:
