The Sikkim Institute of Science & Technology (SIST), Chisopani, successfully concluded its two-week Students' Induction Program (SIP) 2026 with a grand Valedictory Function, marking the culmination of an enriching journey that welcomed and oriented newly admitted students to academic life, institutional values, and holistic development.
The occasion was graced by Shri S. K. Mishra, Head of Project-cum-General Manager, NHPC Ltd., Hingdam, South Sikkim, as the Chief Guest. The institute was also honoured by the presence of the Special Guests:
• Dr. Chandra Kant Pandey, Head of Medical Division-cum-Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Rangit Power Station, NHPC Ltd.
• Mr. Pandu Gagrai, Head of Human Resource Division, Rangit Power Station, NHPC Ltd.
The programme commenced with the traditional welcome of the dignitaries, followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting, vibrant cultural performances by students, and an address by Prof. (Dr.) B. B. Pradhan, Principal-cum-Director, who encouraged students to pursue academic excellence, uphold ethical values, and contribute meaningfully to society.
In his keynote address, Shri S. K. Mishra inspired the students to cultivate discipline, perseverance, professional integrity, and a spirit of lifelong learning while embracing innovation and emerging opportunities.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the distribution of certificates and awards to students in recognition of their enthusiastic participation and outstanding performances in various literary, cultural, sporting, and co-curricular activities conducted throughout the induction programme. The event celebrated not only academic orientation but also the diverse talents, creativity, and teamwork displayed by the first-year students during the two-week programme.
Conducted under the aegis of Sikkim Institute of Science & Technology, the valedictory ceremony marked the successful conclusion of SIP 2026, reaffirming the institute's commitment to nurturing competent, socially responsible, and future-ready engineers.
