Mr. K. Natwar Singh, Former Union External Affairs Minister, passed away on 10 August 2024. Born on 16 May 1929 in the princely state of Bharatpur in Rajasthan, he was 95 years.

Mr. Singh had been a member of Board of Governors of our Aravali Institute of Management since inception in the year 1999.

He joined Indian Foreign Service in the year 1953 and served as Ambassador, High Commissioner of India and various diplomatic positions in various countries and leading international organisations including the United Nations. In the year 1984, he resigned from Indian Foreign Service and joined active politics.

In August 1967, he married Maharajkumari Heminder Kaur, sister of Capt. Amrinder Singh of Patiala royal family and former Chief Minister of Punjab. They have a son Jagat Singh and a daughter Ritu Kaur.

During 02-03 March 2013, Mr. Justice D. S. Tewatia (former Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court and Calcutta High Court) and I had organised Nation-Building Meet at India International Centre, New Delhi which Mr. Singh had graciously attended. At the ceremony to recognise the volunteers who had made this event successful, when the turn came for Aakash and I told Mr. Singh that he was my son, Mr. Singh insisted that I honour him. Here is the photograph of that moment.

Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. May his noble soul attain the Nirvana.

It has been extremely sad news that my dear friend for around three decades and a wonderful human being Virendra (Sam) Singh passed away on 22 July 2024. Sam and I were colleagues in American multinational DuPont during 1996-97 at then Madras.

In the year 2000, after leaving DuPont both Sam and I independently became educational entrepreneurs. While Sam established a unique school Pardada Pardadi in his village in Anoopshahr Tehsil of Bulandshahr District in UP, I set up Aravali Institute of Management at Jodhpur in my home state of Rajasthan. We continued to be in regular touch, I visited his school a few times and he visited our Institute at Jodhpur.

He will be missed a lot by many. Our heartfelt condolences to his family. May his noble soul attain the Nirvana.

Exactly 13 years back on today's Baisakhi date, 13 April 2011, along with 60 of our students and faculty members and with a large number of supporters from all over India and abroad including IITs & IIMs alumni, we had started indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi - one of our many important crusades for ensuring the triumph of truth - getting the conversion (land use change) approval for 94.4 acres of our campus land on merit alone.
While we sat on the indefinite fast, there was extensive daily coverage in the national media. Ultimately after six days, we succeeded with the government agreeing to accept our demand.

Leading jurist of India Mr. Fali Sam Nariman passed away yesterday, 21 February 2024. Born on 10 January 1929, he was 95 years.

For many years, it was a unique case where his son Mr. Justice Rohinton F. Nariman was a judge in Supreme Court of India, where the father was practicing as a Senior Advocate.

Mr. Fali Nariman is credited with several landmark cases. He was honoured with Padma Bhushan in the year 1991 and Padma Vibhushan in 2007. He was nominated by the President of India as a Rajya Sabha member during 1999-2005.

He had been a supporter and well-wisher of mine for over two decades. Around ten years back, when I met him and his wife at their residence in Delhi for advice and guidance, he presented to me his autobiography "Before Memory Fades....".

A great human being, he would be remembered by a large number of people in the legal fraternity and others amongst his admirers. May his noble soul rest in peace.
