World Day Against Child Labour 2020 will focus on the impact of the crisis on child labor.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) launched the first World Day Against Child Labour in 2002 as a way to highlight the plight of these children.

The number of children around the world being made to do paid and unpaid work of different kinds is very much prevalent. Children as young as 5 are engaged in labour that is considered harmful to their health and development. They are classified as child labourers as they are either too young to be working or are involved in activities that are hazardous to their physical, mental, social or educational development. This brought about the movement to fight against child labour.

This Day is intended to serve as a catalyst for the growing worldwide movement against child labour and provides and opportunity to gain support from governments, civil society, schools, youth and women’s groups as well as the media, in the campaign against child labour.
