Indiability exists to change the face of physical disability in India. We work to change attitudes t Education was merely a bad aid.

We have been working in the field of Physical Disability at the grass roots level with our sister organisation Sucheta Kriplani Shiksha Niketan, lovingly known as SKSN, for 20 years. Initially Education was seen as the key to ensuring children with physical disabilities in rural India would have a chance of being independent, even, dare I say, successful. But as the children started to graduate, j

Today we had the pleasure of meeting Rosie Lake from Godstowe Preparatory School. Godstowe pupils have been raising money throughout 2023 to pay for the refurbishment of 10 rundown rooms in the girls hostel at SKSN, which were badly in need of some TLC.
💃🏻
They have since been refurbished; freshly decorated, each room now has big, bright posters on the walls, designed by several of the Godstowe students, on the theme of ‘Girl Power!’
💃🏻
The girls at SKSN would like to thank everyone at Godstowe for enabling these improvements.

Thanks for your awesome post Helen….

It was a real pleasure to have the students from Impington Village College (IVC) at SKSN.

SKSN’s students with disabilities learnt heaps from the IVC volunteers, so much so that they are still talking about your visit!

And, all they want to know is when you’re coming back again!

Thank for the swell and creative time had by all!

"Temporary Disability Taught Me...": Shashi Tharoor After Entering Parliament In Wheelchair 22/12/2022

Policy makers and politicians should take note of low standards of infrastructure available in India which make day to day life such a struggle for a person with physical disabilities and for that matter even for people with other challenges.

Infrastructure development should be sensitively done keeping accessibility requirements under consideration.

Lastly, each and everyone of us should pay heed to the fact that anyone of us can become temporarily disabled at any time – particularly in the latter years of our lives….

So why not make all amenities as accessible as possible, and at the earliest – no matter when one might need them!🦽🦼👩‍🦽♿️

"Temporary Disability Taught Me...": Shashi Tharoor After Entering Parliament In Wheelchair Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday entered the parliament in a wheelchair after he sprained his left foot last week. In his Twitter post, he expressed his disappointment on how poorly equipped India is for disabled people.

The SKSN students with had a ‘one of its kind’ meeting today with kids from Belgium…
It was their first ever meeting on Zoom!
📹
Children from both countries – Belgium and India – exchanged sound recordings of their cities with each other.
🔊
This morning it became very clear, once again, how important it is to connect children with each other within education.
🎧
Both sides were left with questions and wonderment. A look at their world (and ours! ) got a little bigger again (and funkier). 😍
🇧🇪🇮🇳
Listening is more than sound and vibrations! Listening is contact! And an extremely valuable skill set, which is hard to master until you turn ‘LISTENING’ into one of your strengths!

The SKSN students with had an amazing meeting today with kids from Belgium…

It was their first meeting on Zoom! Read about it ❤️

Fundraiser Appeal for SKSN's Students with Disablilties

Hello friends, supporters, donors, and our well-wishers...

We have all had to contend with lots of ups and downs over the last 14-16 months during . The isolation and solitary confinements have done our heads in – even more so, for the children, youth, and people with . Sadly, they have been hit the hardest...

Education is the absolute life-line for the SKSN kids with disabilities, ladder to their future livelihoods and careers. The overly elongated enforced break from school, made them see their vital lifesaver slowly slip through their fingers. Their internal light slowly started dimming down. Their magic spark slowly started dying...

That's why we all got together, and came up with a project that they could nurture – which would, in turn, nurture them too!

Please spare a few minutes to see a short film about their special project!

This godsend of a project has been so valuable in restoring their mental and emotional health, that they want to carry on with it even when the Coronavirus is no longer wreaking havoc in their lives.

For them to do this, they need to raise the balance of £1400, to buy a tractor and its accompanying agricultural tools. Majority of the funds have already been raised through some very kindhearted souls.

Thank you in advance for all your help and support towards the SKSN kids skill development project. Even a small sum of money means the world to them!
