Independence Day Celebration at Women’s College, Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda, August 15: Women’s College, Jharsuguda, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The programme began with the unfurling of the National Flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The Principal, teachers, and students paid tribute to the freedom fighters and highlighted the importance of unity, responsibility, and patriotism. Students participated in various cultural programmes, adding colour and joy to the celebration. The event concluded with a message encouraging everyone to contribute towards the progress and development of the nation.

Women's College, Jharsuguda Celebrates 45th Foundation Day
Jharsuguda, August 5, 2026: Women's College, Jharsuguda celebrated its 45th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and dignity on Wednesday. The programme was presided over by Mr. Chulamani Ratha, Principal of the college.
Sj. Tankadhar Tripathy , Hon'ble MLA, Jharsuguda, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and congratulated the institution on completing 45 glorious years of dedicated service in women's education. He appreciated the college's contribution to academic excellence and encouraged students to strive for higher achievements.
Sri Brajabandhu Bhoi, OAS (SAG), Additional District Magistrate, Jharsuguda-cum-President, Governing Body of the College, attended the function as the Guest of Honour. In his address, he highlighted the importance of quality education, discipline, and character building in empowering young women and shaping a progressive society.
The celebration featured cultural programmes, felicitation of distinguished students, and reflections on the institution's remarkable journey over the past four and a half decades. Faculty members, students, alumni, and invited guests participated in the event, making the celebration memorable.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the distinguished guests, staff members, students, and all those who contributed to the successful celebration of the college's 45th Foundation Day.

Prof. Renuka Pujari, former Principal, retired from service today on attaining the age of superannuation. A farewell function was organized to honour her remarkable career and dedicated service in the field of higher education.
On the occasion, Mr. Chulamani Ratha, Principal, Women's College, Jharsuguda, along with the teaching and non-teaching staff, felicitated Prof. Pujari and expressed their heartfelt gratitude for her invaluable contributions to the institution and the academic community. They conveyed their warm wishes for her good health, happiness, and a peaceful, fulfilling retired life.

Prof. Chulamani Ratha Joins as Principal of Women's College, Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda, July 20: Prof. Chulamani Ratha formally assumed charge as the Principal of Women's College, Jharsuguda on 20 July 2026, following the appointment order issued by the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Odisha. The charge was officially handed over by the Mrs. Renuka Pujari, in a cordial proceeding held at the college.

Faculty members, officers and staff of the college welcomed Prof. Ratha expressed confidence in his leadership for the continued academic growth and overall development of the institution. On the occasion, Mrs. Renuka Pujari extended her best wishes to the new Principal and thanked the college fraternity for their support during her tenure.

Yoga Class Conducted Under SHAKTISHREE Scheme at Our College
A Yoga class was successfully conducted today at our college under the SHAKTISHREE Scheme of the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Odisha. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.
The programme aimed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle among students through the practice of yoga. Participants performed various yoga postures and breathing exercises under the guidance of the instructor, highlighting the importance of regular yoga practice in daily life.

Plantation Drive 2026–27 Organized by NSS Unit at Women's College, Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda, June 29: As part of the Plantation Drive 2026–27, the NSS Unit of Women's College, Jharsuguda organized a tree plantation programme on the college campus on Monday, 29 June 2026. The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage students to contribute towards a greener and cleaner future.

The Principal, NSS Programme Officer, faculty members, volunteers, and students actively participated in the plantation drive by planting various saplings on the campus. The speakers highlighted the importance of tree plantation in maintaining ecological balance and combating climate change. The programme concluded with a pledge by the NSS volunteers to protect and nurture the planted saplings, reinforcing their commitment to environmental conservation.
