An Adivasi felicitation ceremony was held yesterday at the DM Auditorium in Jhargram. On this occasion, noted Santali music artist Chandra Mohan Mandi ( Founder of SAMDA ) was honoured with the Lal Sukra Oraon Memorial Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Santali music and culture.
The programme was graced by several distinguished guests. Among those present on the stage were C.D. Lama, Birbaha Hansda, social leader Kalipada Saren, cultural activist Dulal Murmu, and the District Magistrate of Jhargram, Akanksha Bhaskar.
Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of recognising indigenous artists who dedicate their lives to preserving and promoting Adivasi heritage. The award to Chandramohan Mandi stands as a proud moment for the Santali community and highlights his continued efforts to nurture young talents and strengthen cultural identity.
