School Master....
A schoolmaster, or simply a master, is a male teacher in charge of a school. The term originated in England during the Late Middle Ages and the early modern period when most schools were small, often one or two-room establishments. Additional teachers were referred to as assistant schoolmasters. The traditional term persists in British private, secondary, and preparatory schools, as well as in grammar schools and some Commonwealth boarding schools like the Doon School in India. In schools with multiple schoolmasters, the one in charge is the headmaster. While this title endures in British independent schools, it has largely been replaced by "head teacher" in publicly funded schools. However, colloquially, "headmaster" is still commonly used, especially in grammar schools, akin to the American term "principal." The female equivalent of "schoolmaster" is "schoolmistress," used with the same prefixes.
